We have a similar system here in Germany and I'm mostly using my loan to buy books or pay for the fuel or food.
Trying to hold back as much as I can to pay most of it back immediately. Rarely buying other stuff for my joy.
In the meanwhile, these kids use loans for their sheer amusement and moan when they have to pay it back but they can't, because they have some useless gender degree.
