Even your link says outright that calling it a "loophole" is a "viewpoint" and not a matter of fact. Because it's not a fact. A "loophole" is an unintentional legal oversight that allows the spirit of a law to be circumvented or twisted. That is simply not the case with the private exemption. It was left there on purpose, by design, because it's a good idea, and the alternative is a terrible idea.

>You know, Australia’s a good example, Canada’s a good example, [and] the UK’s a good example. Why? Because each of them had mass killings, Australia had a huge mass killing about 20 or 25 years ago. Canada did as well, so did the UK. In reaction, they passed much stricter gun laws. In the Australian example, as I recall, that was a buyback program. The Australian government as part of trying to clamp down on the availability of…weapons offered a good price for buying hundreds of thousands of guns and basically clamped down going forward, in terms of having more of a background check approach–more of a permitting approach. -Hillary Clinton

These numbers don't seem accurate. First off, the "deaths due to injury by firearms" is disingenuous because we would prefer nobody getting killed; it doesn't matter what you get killed by. Secondly, the numbers in the second image are absurd. 20.0 per 100,000 die due to firearms in Montana? That's nonsense; that's third-world tier numbers and that happens in shitholes like DC or Detroit.

Do you even know how gun control works? Are you blind or something?

Gun control works by chipping away gun ownership little by little. It might take 20 or 50 years but they are in for the long run, once you start to give them what you want, it will never stop.

In the end you have shit like in Scotland where they want to confiscate air rifles.

>>
>>74658350
Two reasons:
1. They have a felony and cannot legally obtain one until they get their rights back (had a friend that had to do this). You can always have your significant other purchase a gun in the same home, you just can't take it anywhere legally.
2. They think guns are scary and don't want them around. This is common for a liberal socialist retards that can't comprehend gun safety or responsibility and believe that not having one is safer than actually owning one.

Wow, it's almost as if the draconian, anti-gun laws drove whites away from cities where the only people that are "permitted" to carry guns are those who disregard laws, IE, largely non-whites.

Good job on getting rid of your useless long arms registry program, by the way. :^)

The assault weapons ban was temporary and it came with a ton of funding for imprisonment and mass incarceration. And guess what? Locking them up works, crime has continuously gone down since the 90s. When the assault weapons ban expired, crime continued to go down anyway. Thanks to groups like the NRA; there was a strong pro gun sentiment in our local government as well as the federal one. The assault weapons ban managed to sneak through because of all the crime in the 90s, but people realized that it wasn't guns causing the problem. So the ban safely expired and we kept our rights from being eroded further. The assault weapons ban was a mistake and we should never repeat it. We were lucky it was temporary and came with effective legislation that actually reduced crime (i.e. mass incarceration). Doing it again is risky.

Even Scalia believed there were limits to the 2nd amendment.“We also recognize another important limitation on the right to keep and carry arms. Miller (an earlier case) said, as we have explained, that the sorts of weapons protected were those “in common use at the time”. We think that limitation is fairly supported by the historical tradition of prohibiting the carrying of ‘dangerous and unusual weapons.’ “

Repeating rifles are in common civilian use at this time, and have been for decades. The notion that there is a fundamentally important distinction between semiautomatic and automatic repeating rifles is facetious, illiberal, and unconstitutional.

>>74668093
I'm not against the crime bill. I think if there were disadvantages to the assault weapons ban we would have seen them then or in the subsequent years. I don't pretend restrictions on the 2nd amendment are not without risk but I believe the risks are manageable and I think they are worth it.

Well the Constitution leaves it up to legislators to determine what is common use. If the Congress determines fully automatic rifles or so called assault weapons are not common use then they can specifically prohibit them and as Scalia writes in Heller, "We think that limitation is fairly supported by the historical tradition of prohibiting the carrying of 'dangerous and unusual weapons.'"

Well yeah probably, but nigs are going to nig, so they'll just stab each other. It's better to just build more prisons, have harsher sentence, and lock them up. Keep up this policy and abortion and their crime rate should eventually go down to a reasonable level in like 100 years. The cheaper alternative, of course, would be just to ship them off to Africa or something.
