The "Flat Earth" is more like a globe that has been flattened from the top rather than a traditional flat map. Imagine a globe that had been peeled up from the bottom until it could lay down flat on a desk.

It still doesn't make any sense, but there you go.
>>
>>74543040
I believe they usually claim that there is some sort of non-euclidean geometry, which is why when you believe you are traveling on a straight geodesic path with respect to the sphere, you are actually traveling on these curved paths which make it near impossible to reach the south pole which is where they claim the earth ends.

Like many conspiracy theories, they use math that is far beyond the average joe (or the average follower of the conspiracy theory), in this case differential geometry, to explain what would be considered obvious flaws and shortcomings of their conspiracy theory. This means that when someone attempts to disprove their theory they can always claim that person doesn't understand the underlying math. A similar but somewhat more serious example of this is the physics paper 'An exceptionally simple theory of everything' which has generated something of a cult following.
>>
>>74543612
The belief in the globe suppresses the creator, the globe makes man irrelevant, a tiny speck of dust in an infinite universe.
The truth of humanity living on a purpose built construction with everything provided destroys that myth and weakens anyone's position should they be trying to enslave said population.
Not that a small percentage of people belonging to a certain religious and racial sect basically control "global finance".

Flat earthers don't believe this though, they think everything is on the "top" side.
>>
I'll give a serious answer.

The equator line forms a circle around the middle of the earth, if you travelled east constantly in a flat earth you would go around this circle as a compass uses poles to dictate position.

The day/night cycle is explained by a supposed spotlight sun that rotates around the earth. The moon and sun are said to be the same size.

What I did find interesting about this theory is that the Bible implies the moon and stars exist within a firmament of waters. It is scientifically possible to create a glowing star in water by using soundwaves. They claim that is the explanation behind the sun being created when God spoke "let there be light"
>>
It is truly saddening to see all of these brainwashed round earth shills in this thread, they never seem to grasp the truth of the flat earth, even when they are continuously getting BTFO in every single argument.

Yes, they have supersonic planes for the southern hemisphere.

Actually, planes fly slower in the northern hemisphere. If you've ever actually flown outside of the UK, you can watch the airspeed of the plane you're flying in. From my experience, the plane usually flies around 250-350 miles an hour. Commercial airliners have the capabilities of flying more than twice that speed.

Longest straight line you can sail on the earth is this. There are no real straight lines on a sphere's surface, they're replaced with arcs of great circles (being the shortest path between two points on the surface, like a line is the shortest path between two points on a plane, the geodesics of their respective geometries). When projected onto a 2D map great circles will appear curved.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientific_theory
>A scientific theory is a well-substantiated explanation of some aspect of the natural world that is acquired through the scientific method and repeatedly tested and confirmed through observation and experimentation.[1][2] Scientific theories are the most reliable, rigorous, and comprehensive form of scientific knowledge.
Theories are things with incredibly strong evidence behind them, something unproven is a hypothesis.

Only by changing your starting conditions, which gives the game away anon. You can't start with what Newton did and not derive newton's laws.
Or Einstein having 2 assumptions for the derivation of special relativity, the speed of light being constant (well observed and measured) and that nothing can exceed that speed (also well observed).

No, they are proven. You are just too stupid to accept new information.

The Theory of Relativity is proven by it's predictive capability in GPS satellites, and Einstein's mathematics (off the top of my head).

Quantum theory is proven by photo electrons being emitted at finite energy levels, or quanta.

The theory of gravity is proven by curvature of light in space, things falling to the ground, and numerous other nuances.

The "theory" of earth being round is proven by Greek mathematics (two sticks in different cities, find the difference in the shadow cast by both, use information to calculate arch length and then radius) which is basic as fuck mathematics by the way, as well as observational evidence of the world not being fucking flat.

Every theory in science is 100% proven. The only way you could despite this is by bringing up a principal of tangible uncertainty, or in laymen's terms, "You can't 100% prove anything and therefore you can't know anything".

No, they are proven, and because you aren't a scientist, I would like you to refrain from making retarded judgement on how we operate.

>You can literally create whatever "spaces" you want and can define whatever laws you want for those spaces.
No, they all follow the axioms of a vector space actually, and have many common properties.

Mathematics is one thing you can objectively prove since it's a logical system built up from simple axioms (currently the ZFC axioms) and is consistent.

> Have you ever even considered...what if we are wrong? What if we and all of those who came before us were wrong about things?
We know our current physical theories are only approximations most likely, they do however make excellent testable predictions and have been validated and are incredibly useful.
It's why we still use Newtonian physics at low speeds even though it's technically been superseded by relativity, it's a good approximation when your velocity is low.

>Do you ever wonder why general relativity and quantum mechanics don't mesh?
Yes, it's like the central question in physics today, I actually understand on a basic level what goes wrong in quantum gravity, the whole thing becomes non-normalisable.

Uh, actually you could also say that dividing by no actual quantity, results in no change.

If you have and apple and cut it in half, you're dividing it by 2, and end up with 2 slices of the apple.

If you don't cut it, that's equivalent to dividing it by 0, you are not dividing it at all. It remains the same.
>>
>>74550382
Oh, don't worry, we are more than willing to accept that theories can be challenged, but because the ones I mentioned are intertwined with a solid view of reality, they could only feasibly be wrong on a technicality.

However, the models that they are used to explain reality and then predict reality are 100%, as proven by the fact that they work. Yes, they could be wrong in some ways. For example, we don't call classical physics bullshit because it only describes accurately phenomena travelling at a tiny fraction of the speed of light. Newtonian physics predicts what it can predict, and relativity does the rest.
>>
>>74550531
But what about the space station and satellites, why don't they ever capture images of the far side of the moon from orbit?
>>
>>74550361
Yes, DSCOVR sits near Earth-Sun L1 point, so is in a good position to see things like this, however it's slightly offset so it's not perfectly in line with the sun, that may not have been an actual eclipse due to the moon's inclination to the ecliptic.
See the diagram on the left here.

The difference is that the earth is flat. Analyse a shill source properly and you will find that they are consistent, and not in fact shill sources.

Of course, if you can find a scientist making a video on the topic, it's better, but even a laymen probably has a better understanding of these things than you.

No, tidal locking between two bodies of similar enough size like earth/moon is inevitable. The moon slowly leeches angular momentum from the earth (slowing its spin) and so increasing its orbital period until it matches the length of the lunar "day", this point is then a stable equilibrium so the moon stays like that. 4 billion years and two bodies like the earth and moon and it's almost inevitable that happens.
