Many schools in the US have "honors" courses for smart people (i.e. not brain-dead niggers). The problem is alot of people who are going for high class ranking would end up taking only normal classes to keep their GPA up while people taking level classes like Calculus and Physics would have a harder time competing. So honors classes give you double grade points, and ranking is decided based on total accumulated grade points rather than GPA. Calculating the "inflated" GPA using the doubled grade points is a stupid way for sub-par students to inflate their ego and impress people who don't know better. Most colleges do not consider the double grade points when determining actual GPA, they only use them for determining class rank. When I graduated, my "inflated" GPA would have been >5.0 and the valedictorian would have higher than 6.0, but it depends on the how many honors courses are offered really. The fact that this negress doesn't have a perfect GPA tells me she either didn't go to a very competitive school, or her school was one of those that picks several "valedictorians" based on a total grade point threshold, rather than actual rankings. Each of them counted for 4+ credits depending on school. My school also offered Calculus and Biology, so 30+ credits was definitely possible with just AP. If you add in dual-credit community college classes, you could get quite a few more. You don't get double gpa, you get double grade points. GPA = Grade Point Average.
So bascially, you take total grade points and divide by the number of "credits" (usually # of classes in high school). Normally, you can get 4 grade points per credit in each class, scaled to your letter grade. But in honors classes, you would double it. So an A was worth 8 grade points rather than 4. So if you took half normal classes and half honors classes, with A's in all, you would have a GPA of 6.0. If you made a C in the honors and A in the normal classes, you would have a 4.0. A 4.56GPA with no info on how many honors courses she took is literally meaningless.

What you all are not getting is that GPA calculation changes from state to state and district to district. Hell my school district had the GPA go up to 4.5 with the .5 being earned from AP classes. They changed it when I was a junior for the class of '11 by adopting the new state-wide GPA calculation. Which was where straight 100s in a regular classes got you a 4.0 and all enhanced/honors classes with a score of 100 got you a 5.0 and college/AP classes got you a 6.0. If you made 1 point short of a perfect score (100) then your GPA would drop. The school district did this primarily to solve the problem created by a rival high school where if you didn't get a perfect GPA based upon letter grade (4.5) you would drop to about the 25 percentile.

In my humble opinion if your education was graded on any scale other than a 0.0-4.0, it is worthless.
I can only think of one reason to change it, and that is give more credit for lower grades, when if you don't understand the material you shouldn't pass.
With this being said I think 75% of the degrees offered are worthless, along with 100% of the people studying them. They should be in the work force earning a good income from industrial manufacturing or some other large export company, such as Boeing. or in a job that is created by the company being there.
Back to the other 25% of degrees that do require formal education before practice. Many of the people pursuing these degrees are already over qualified to do the job that requires them to have a formal education. Such as the term Engineer has been stretched so far and wide that basically any job with a large paycheck requires an "Engineering" degree, when in reality the amount of analytical engineering or math based problems. They are just trouble shooting systems and running the department.
