I have some glock magazines that were used by cops in the 80's that have been loaded since the 90s and still function flawlessly. Springs will still lose some tension if you keep your magazines fully loaded 365 days a year. In most cases the amount of wear on the spring will not be nearly serious enough to cause malfunctions. But still, if I needed to carry a gun for self defense I would take any precaution necessary to avoid any risk. If you have many mags, there's no practical need to keep them ALL fully loaded anyway.

I have yet to meet anyone who has spent an afternoon at the range who didn't have a great time.

Shooting is great fun, the only real problem with the hobby is it is fucking expensive.
Guns are expensive, but it's really hard to lose money on a gun, as they typically go up or at least retain their value. The only way I can think to lose money on a gun is to panic buy after the latest gun grabbing scare.
Ammo is where the hobby gets really expensive. It used to be that shooting .22lr was a cheap way to enjoy the hobby, but it's been practically unobtanium for years now.
What do don't appreciate as a non shooter is how much ammo you go through in a session. A couple of people can easily blow through a thousand rounds in an afternoon, which will easily run you $200 at bulk prices.
Anyway, guns are fun as fuck, but expensive to shoot.

You'd be surprised what the government knows about. the 4473 you fill out to buy legally in a gun shop might not be sent to the atf but the ATF does come to the gun shop and photocopy those things like its christmas. True if you private sell that may not be traced but you'd be surprised what can be found out via chain of sellers who have the ATF show up asking questions when something goes down with a gun you sold privately. I'm against the govt knowing anything about what anybody has but of course we keep giving up ground in states like CA CT HI etc etc etc. They basically have registries for everything in those states. Those of us who live in free states are on registries for things like NFA items (silencers, machineguns, etc) because of the NFAct and theres no way getting around that without 10 years in jail and 100k fine.

Tanks are good against hard targets, like other tanks, fortified gun emplacements, and bunkers. to keep a country under control you need armed police and troops on the ground, forcibly keeping people in line.
It's the troops that you have to fight, not the tanks.
