Development is intensely individual and age-of-anything laws are actually pretty fucked up. Emancipated minors should be recognized as fully adult before the law, in my opinion, while 22 year olds that live on their parents and don't work probably should NOT be.

I think there's validity to this. 40 years ago an 18 year old was expected to have started living on their own and providing for themselves.
Now literally 30%+ of 25 year olds still live with their parents.
