>come here to debate Ron Paul
>have heated debates about economic policies where anons show deep unmemed knowledge of economy
>"you must understand the rise of government spending in the Iraq and Afghanistan war was directly related to the capitalization of banks through the federal reserve system..."
>leave shortly after Ron Paul loses
>learned a lot and debated a lot. Went from communist to libertarian

>come back in 2016
>want to understand Trump phenomenon
>try to start a debate criticizing Trump's tariff plan as a possible hindrance to the middle class who gets easy consumption thanks to cheap exports from China
>"FUCKING MONKEY"
>"BUILD A WALL"
>"WHAT HAS BRAZIL EVER INVENTED?!?!?!"
>"YOU CAN'T STUMP THE TRUMP"

Why has the level of discussions in /pol/ fallen since Trump became popular? No one here understands economy, they just fire memes and insults at masthodontical rates. I see no arguements wherever I see.

Is it just meme or has /pol/ really become dumber in comparison to 2012?

Basic education should do the trick.

If you support Trump, you are in for a massive upset.

He is accepting money from donors and this will severely limit his capacity as a candidate.

When he doesn't build a wall or supports gun control in a public speech, I'm afraid /pol/ will break apart.

Combination of factors. Mostly to do with the extreme shilling going on. It was better before the primaries, honestly, when we were all trying to vet him.

To answer your critique: the ability to buy cheap shit is not the only metric of a healthy economy. At this point, the working class in America is out of work. It doesn't matter how cheap the shit gets, we can't buy it.

The userbase gets progressively younger as /pol/ gets more well known and a truckload of newfags funnel in every day as well as paid shills. A lot of the more intellectual hardliner types migrated to other chans because they didn't want to deal with it.
>>
Yeah it's a bit shit.

I like Trump. But I don't like that we've devolved into senseless apes who repeat the same phrases over and over.

It'd be better if we could still support Trump and have MAGA threads while also having debate.

Reddit isn't one person. A lot of the more apathetic undergraduate unemployed engineering students who were suddenly emotionally hijacked during the Paris attacks as well as underaged first-time Nietzsche readers jumped on /pol/ during November last year, should be very noticeable for anyone who's been browsing since before them.

I don't find my opinion being valued as much in serious topics so I don't put effort into a long winded logical post because it usually gets overlooked or one word "naw" or "autistic post" reply. I believe its been a blessing in disguise though as it makes an easier transition away from 4chan, it's been pretty habitual to come here all these years.

Because since 2012, many people have become aware of a more pressing existential threat: the death of traditionalism, masculinity, thier demographic majority. Trump is a beacon of hope; a breathing protestation to every thing decadent and faggish about America today. I say this as a rather liberal person, and someone who acknowledges his stupidity and incoherence. I don't care about his gaffes -public and private. I just love Donald Fuckin Trump

I assume /pol/ that although /pol/ has become very dumbed down, this model seems to work far better, sadly.

Repeated memes speak louder than an actual discussion.

>Mostly to do with the extreme shilling going on.

Yeah, this has a lot to do with the quality of posting. They have succeeded in their shilling in a way, with the fact that anybody who, like OP, comes here looking for a reasonable debate will be spammed with one word responses because everybody is sick of the shillbots and no longer bother putting effort into their argument.

I'll give you one actual response:

The reason that criticizing Trump doesn't end well is because of anti-Trump shills.

It's one thing to discuss Trump's protectionism (Which I'm for); it's another thing entirely to fling shit, yammer on about "Free trade" and then encourage everyone to jump ship to the Lolbertarian Party.

In nearly every instance I've seen, when people criticize Trump, they don't want discussion or debate, they just want to shill, break morale and establish a false consensus.

Add that Reddit screencap into the mix, where you have Bern victims advocating coming to /pol/ to disrupt any sort of pro-Trump discussion, and here we are.
>>
>>74404748
I think you are blaming a ghost.

Paid shills are less than 1% of the posters. They couldn't have ruined an entire board. You'll pardon me but I think it has nothing to do with shills and much more to /pol/'s culture. It has switched from libertarianism based on deontology and utilitarism to basic statism.
>>
>>74403633
We tried reason and Ron Paul lost.

Now we pray to Kek (peace be upon him) to win us the vote and we're winning.

We don't need to reason anymore, because we have Kek. Just sit back and be comfy. Aid our efforts by shitposting and awooposting to piss off libshits.

BUILD A WALL, MEHICO TACO WILL PAY FOR IT!
>>
>>74403633
/pol/ hasn't figured out that Trump is the Chosen one.

He's literally running against a pitiful old man and a disgusting woman.

He will spark the race wars that will finally cement the rabbi's legal control of the US. Gun control will definitely happen under his reassuring, smug, reign.
>>
>>74403633
we are done arguing, we've decided to go with Trump this election for the lulz and liberal tears.

Id say there's close to a 100% chance you are one of those shills
>>
>>74405093
Their economy is broke and Correct the Record is outsourcing.
>>
>>74404901

That's not the case at all. There's been no "ideological shift."

The Libertarians are still here. The united front you saw coalesced around Ron Paul was a coalition of nationalists, angry at the Republican Party, Paleoconservatives, and real Libertarians.

We all supported Paul, but for very different reasons. This time around, the candidate of choice in Donald Trump. The nationalists (who have been here since /new/) are just having their 'day in the sun.'
>>
>>74405067
It is not my intent.

But then again, I can't be called a shill because I protest a board's culture. Specially when more than half this thread posters agree with me about the impossibility of discussion here.

I believe accusing others of being shills and using it as an excuse to avoid arguements is part of the problem.
>>
>>74405126
The fact I've given him reasoned responses and he's ignored me in favor of emotional responses tells me he's a shill. Fuck this guy. Enjoy the thread.
>>

I miss that relatively short period where National Socialism and Orthodox Christianity were really popular. That was the last time I remember seeing a lot of genuinely involved discussion going on here. I think that was right before GG happened and maybe a little bit after.

/pol/'s Ron Paul strategy - intelligent, informed debate - was a loser.

But never let it be said that /pol/ is incapable of learning from its mistakes. After 4 years of brainstorming and market-testing, we have crafted - and implemented - a new strategy for Trump which is enjoying great success.

Calling everyone who doesn't agree with Trump cucks is turning into a rocket ride to the White House, baby.
>>
>>74403633
Ron Paul was awesome and I feel he would have been the best President of our generation; however, in this day and age politics are basically a popularity contest. It's more about how well you present yourself on television than how good your policies are.

Sadly, Ron Paul would never of had a chance to beat HIillatard in the general election. Trump is 'cool' and 'edgy.' He is also the best choice within the current field. He has created a very interesting political climate, a movement on the scale which most of us have never seen in a lifetime.

If he is able to deliver in his promises he made, I think he will have our country headed in the right direction.
>>
>>74405309

I agree.

I don't see ANY of Ron Paul's enthusiasm in Trump. He is a live-studio audience broadcaster. He says what the common man wants to hear and repeats the same sentences time and time again. He has recoiled when it comes to donors and abortion. I have no reason to believe he'll recoil in everything else. He is also pro-gun control.
>>
>>74405733

>Abortion

Don't care either way

>Donors

A good chunk of that is going to other Republicans running. Trump actually does have a responsibility now. With at least one SCOTUS seat hanging in the balance, and more coming, you have to be pragmatic.

I care about his "America first" attitude towards foreign policy, his stance on illegal immigrants, and his trade policy.

I'll worry when he starts backpedaling on those.

Honestly it's probably because the discussion is long past over. The future was looking bleak for the West and out of nowhere comes Donald Fucking Trump to throw what is effectively a last ditch Hail Mary pass and stave off certain collapse.

He's far from perfect but his stated policies and principles are mostly in line with the /pol/ "give mind". Anyone else is doomed to fail, or leads to certain decline and fall. And Trump may fuck up as well, but when you get to choose between a chance at life with a risk of painful death, or certain death, that gamble starts to look pretty good.
