The main issue is that Christianity is based on the tale of Christ, captured in the gospels of his disciples and followers, compiled as The New Testament +some faggot's fanfic, Revelations.
Unfortunately, the New Testament was not written contemporaneously with the events, or even BY the people they claim to be. Some of the gospels include glaring flaws, such as geographical errors, that couldn't have been made by someone who was actually recounting what happened.
Even the most generous and desperate of biblical scholars can't place a single Gospel before AD 50, and the majority of scholars place the earliest at AD 70, with the others in 80-90s region.
Jesus died (assuming he ever existed, which is not substantiated by any historical document) between AD 30-36. Let's call it 35 so math is easy.
So essentially, the stories you put so much faith in were written at least 15 years after his death, and probably actually more like 30 years later. Only some of them show the level of accuracy (such as John) that would indicate that it was written by someone who knew what he was talking about instead of just repeating shit he heard, but all agree John was written LAST and between AD 80-90, which would put his grizzled arse at about 110-120 years old.
This is a real issue that bibical scholars struggle with to this day, so don't just handwave it.

Struggling Catholic that's contemplating other options here.
I believe in Christ and the bible. However, the Catholic church just seems to shift goalposts when it comes to "tradition". Tradition requires that it be believed in the first place so faith truly trumps all.
It seems much of what the Catholic church is historically known for being against isn't really found explicitly in the bible. Ie married priests, the papacy, sex for purposes other than procreation, masturbation or even some forms of contraception. I'm not trying to pull a childish stunt of "you didn't say I could punch him so I kicked him instead". It really seems like they are grasping at straws on some of these issues. Jesus specifically says that the bible is the word of God, is sufficient and no additions or deletions be made. I understand certain realizations must be made as culture changes but how come only some of these changes transfer forward. It was totally okay to have concubines, fornicate with slaves of you were married etc. These wrongs have been identified as wrong in our modern world even though they were fine then and even condoned in the bible. How can the Catholic church have authority and legitimacy given this?

Evolution is a particularly relevant and interesting subject to investigate. THH Huxley did some amazing work, but maybe being Darwin's "bulldog" was going a little bit too far. Can't blame the guy for trying to push the envelope though. I would encourage everybody who cares one way or the other to get involved in the development of further human understanding, whether that comes from a scientific perspective or studying something else.

Every biologist has observed that every generation that passes, genetic information is lost. Think about that for a moment. Its lost. We have so far found no new information being added and in fact see that in example human generations, around 100 deletions or mutations that are damaging are introduced.
As for dinosaurs we have found many footprints of men and woman along side dinosaurs and even bones and tools of humans. The fossil record is increasingly problematic for evolutionist and they admit this regularly and look to biologist for the answer and vice versa.

I used to. I grew up in a atheist household. Surrounded by atheist all my life. Never knew a Christian who would be my friend because I was an antagonistic asshole and I had suspicions just reading what evolutionist wrote themselves on the subject that something wasn't adding up. No new information into the genetic system, only loss. Implying creation. The dating system doesn't work as I had hoped and in fact doesn't seem to work at all. The fossil record doesn't show anything like a evolutionary model but a great flood model fits.
Now its obvious to me. The great flood stories of the world even in Australia point to the Genesis account, which was given to Moses by God.
Its just a lot that piled up on me and I had no choice but accept that God is real and so is Christ Jesus. I didn't want to.
