On top of that, the Central powers knew they had to start the war fairly quickly. In the East trouble was brewing. Russia was swiftly modernizing through increased French investments, and they knew it was only a matter of time before the bear starts spreading his big paws.
The role of the crown prince anyway, was limited to say the least. And he was warned, by his advisors against visiting the relatively freshly annexed, and still hostile region. Security was loose to the extreme. You could argue it was set up.
Russia had its reasons for entering the war. And backstabbing Germany for a CHEEKI BREEKI was not the reason, they aren't dumbfucks.
Again, the causes of the war go very deep, easily enough to fill out an entire book of information. Tension was high between the Russians and the central block., the Bosnian crisis has already made them uncomfortable to the extreme. What's next, the invasion of an ally, the Serbian kingdom?
