Buffalo and Pittsburgh were hit just as bad by the collapse of the American steel industry as Detroit was by the collapse of the car industry. Buffalo and Pittsburgh did not turn into dystopian shitholes like Detroit did.

Wages and benefits for auto workers simply spiraled out of control. The unions pulled so much power away from the bosses and investors that it just became untenable to maintain business as usual. Add to that the influx of Japanese cars of superior quality, and the whole industry went belly-up.
They've recovered, but they've done it by importing parts from overseas and opening up non-union shops in different parts of the country - parts where the workers weren't so entitled.
I'm not saying I'm anti-union, I'm not sure I am. But it goes to show, you can only push corporations so far. They had no problem leaving Detroit as a flaming shithole and just walking away.
Niggers didn't kill Detroit. They just turned it into a nigger city after all the whites left, and nigger city is nigger. Surprises me Detroit is still able to field professional sports teams.
