Economist are literal retards and one should never, under any circumstance, take any of them seriously.
First comment on the article:
"Mr. Chang has been predicting China's immediate collapse since 1976.
Thank god he didn't pick a career in medicine or finance. I would hate to have a doctor or a broker with that kind of track record."

>In Chang’s defense, he could not have anticipated the colossal blunder of President Bill Clinton and a Republican Congress in paving China’s ruthlessly mercantilist way into the World Trade Organization just five months after his book was published. That mother of all unfair trade deals—a well-deserved target of both the Sanders and Trump presidential campaigns—kept China’s Great Walls of Protectionism largely intact.

Pretty clear, right?
I don't understand why our politicians even bother setting out Economic forcasts years in advance when it all depends on China not imploding
Interesting. I've been trying to follow this for the past two years. I'm in way over my head in some of the indicators, though.
What I notice is that while there's either silence or sunshine from "native Chinese" companies & officials, foreign companies and funds who have exposure to China are drawing away, seemingly abruptly. Even hurriedly. Seems to suggest that people close enough to understand the true figure are taking a flight out.
