It is time for we, those of British ancestry, genuinely and wholly apologize to the descendants of the victims of our past acts, for the actions our forefathers committed. Those of British descent and countries that fought with us under our empire such as the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand must apologize to the countries that we oppressed such as India, Ireland, African colonies and Asian colonies.
I will start by putting forward my apology to those on this board who are the descendants of the oppressed. I am sorry for my countries past, it is truly disgusting and shameful. We oppressed most of the world, we committed terrible atrocities. We enslaved people, we tortured people, we killed people but worst of all we completely disrespected people as entities, we disrespected their humanity. I am sorry for this, it makes me choke up when I think about it and I know we of British descent take on the burden of responsibility for it. Please accept this apology, I hope we can move on as a species from this terrible past.
I hope we can all benefit as people from these threads.
