Completely wrong. Fractional reserve banking has been around for centuries. It predates the existence of governmental monetary authorities and originated many centuries ago in bankers' realization that generally not all depositors demand payment at the same time.
The Fed was created in 1913, and wages rose alongside productivity (what I think the poster meant) until roughly Nixon, and then REALLY diverged under Reagan. They still track inflation to this day, just barely.
