Oil tanked and now they're fucked.
Other oil dependent states don't hurt as much (Russia for example) because they are diverse enough to not become a failed state when the price of oil tanks.
Oh and Venezuela was a corrupt shithole that really didn't manage their oil wealth properly to begin with... They were only an acceptable state because they had so much oil.
