We have fucking combat engineers here that are female taking their OSUT (one station unit training).
From what I've heard from some of the reserve drills that most of the females will not make it because of the tremendous stress it puts them under.

We had a small ambush in some town on the Kubul outskirts. Our Mk11 did the work for us, killed 13 hadjis.
Half of them had brand new Chinese made AKs, 3-4 M9s that where government issue and 2 M16s.
We had a small unit of 5-8 ANA guys and they tried taking the guns. We collected the weapons and found that the M9s and M16s where reported stolen.
One of the ANPs we had arrested because he was caught trading AKs and a few of our smoke grenades for some meth.
He had an "unrecoverable accident" atop a high hill.
I really fucking wish that we didn't have to work with them. Or even have them at our FOBs.
The way they treat the women and kids are sickening. I earned my first Article 15 after upper cutting a ANA soldier after he had raped one of the villagers wife's.

Many of the women in my unit stayed perpetually knocked up to dodge deployments. Most were E-5s and above, with all that time they were able to make they were able to max points while staying fat and pregnant. Pretty disgusting how they manipulate the system but hey that's what women are good at.
I have a friend in the Canadian Armed Forces, I nearly joined up myself last year, but narrowly decided not to. I was going to go for Intelligence, because I found out there were openings for it, so I probably wouldn't have ever seen combat even if without le weed man.

Can only speak for myself. Sometimes I felt righteous, always felt pissed when people were trying to kill me. makes you want to shoot back. Kinda the same feeling you get when you want to kick someone's ass in sports, but much more intense.
My first firefight I just reacted. As it dragged on, I thought about my girlfriend and how 'fuck these guys I'm seeing her again'.
After that, all my other firefights were adrenaline and enjoyable. I liked knowing I could die anytime, and only being better than those goatfuckers kept me alive.
Kinda messed up, but that's what war does I think. It;s hard to adjust, but it's been 6 years since my last deployment so I think I'm good.

Peacetime you get more security as an officer over an enlisted. You wont see any sort of combat unless we go back to war and going from enlisted to officer is much harder during peacetime. You will get more respect if you do the enlisted to officer route through the MECEP program but frankly since you wont be combat experienced it wont go far.
Going straight into officer route and remaining humble when you do commission, listening to your senior enlisted, ad not trying to fuck them over on dumb shit is a better route than going to MCRD over OCS.
I really hope you got some specialized MOS locked in as enlisted because if you go as an 03xx during peace time you will hate garrison life and become a raging wife beating alcoholic.
