Plenty of kids grow up in single parent households, without fathers. They don't get a male role model so they don't learn how to be a man.
Increasingly even in two parent households, it's the woman that is working because she is the higher earner, the jobs market increasingly favours women. They have "people skills" which in a modern tech and services economy is considered more desirable. Often the men feel emasculated when they stay at home, which can lead to alcoholism and isolation etc, which isn't really a good example to set for their son. So sometimes, it actually ends up being worse for men.
There are books out there if you do some research that puts it across much better than I can, I've read some of them.
The bottom line is it's bleak for men and the feminization of society doesn't look like it will stop anytime soon. Women have blazed a path for themselves and men haven't learnt to cope with this yet. It won't even begin to get resolved as long as feminists refuse to acknowledge there is a problem. It's in their best interests to ignore the problem seeing as they constantly get a better deal by making claims they are the victims and men have privilege.
As for why they're sexually submissive? Less self esteem and confidence that they would have had from being in a more male positive environment. Now they feel they have to be bitches for women.
