I used to work for a company that owned a few brands of these types of places. There weren't a whole lot of us at the corporate level but we all knew what we were doing - taking money from idiots and poor people because it was so easy to do. We have these here too. They don't require check on your credit rating but they require you to sign your assets such as a your car or house as guarantee for the loan. The interest is also way higher than bank loans.
