You Americans should be the ones responding angrily to suggestions by the left that offshore drilling and fracking should be banned. SA is currently trying to starve US energy companies by flooding the market to hit their prices.

Your enemies are conspiring to ruin your economy, and the left are complicit in their efforts.

Yes, comrade. Let us forsake the eco-imperialism that is petroleum. Then we shall embrace the bosom of Mother Gaia by expanding wind and solar power. Furthermore, now that non-electric vehicles will be unusable, we can melt down all these abominable cars and airplanes to make beautiful new electric trains. Then we teach white people about their privilege by bulldozing their houses to make way for new railway infrastructure, creating millions of jobs for our oppressed minorities and immigrants in the process. But the best part is that it'll all be FREE.

I'm Bernie Sanders, and I approve this message.

That would actually be a good thing. To many people use the car just to get a couple hundred meters. Would also make fat people spend more money on gas than on junk. People also get more inventive to solve the high price problem. In the WW2 when people did build several kinds of engines just because gas expensive and in short supply.

I will not recommend pic related but it's an example of how people find ways to solve things.

87% is fuel (heating and locomotion), for the rest you could use other hydrocarbon sources, however it's not economical with abundant cheap oil.

>>
It's so fucking retarded to try to end fossil fuels and yet not even allow us to use clean energy. The government makes it as hard as buying Chic-fil-A on a Sunday as it is to actually try to install solar panels and windmills on your property. Depending on your state, at least in the US, you might still have to pay the power company something even if you don't fucking use their power. Sometimes it's reverse and they'll pay you, but it's so fucking inconsistent. Free energy is literally falling from the sky and these "le end all fossil fuels" people aren't even trying to actually replace it, but just demonize it.

The Saudis are manipulating the oil prices by withholding production. This is why Trump says a free market isn't free unless everyone is playing by the rules.

I fucking love the meme that somehow oil production is destroying all life everywhere. I fucking worked out of Venice, LA (the end of the road where MS River dumps into the Gulf) AFTER the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill

The sea life down there has literally never been so vibrant, fuckin L O L.

I was employed by NOAA as a fisheries researcher studying the subject and abundances of Yellowfin Tuna offshore and inshore I studied Red Drum.

We would get tired and quit from catching so many Drum, we could literally sink the boat with 5 ft long Drum, but no no no..............LA is a wasteland because of the oil industry.

>But even the ravenous microbes could not clean it all—and much of what they consumed (natural gas components like methane, ethane, butane, propane and pentane) does not legally count as part of the oil spill. Plus, plenty of tarlike hydrocarbons—which are far too big for microbes to chew up—spilled, too. Reddy and his colleagues still head down to the Gulf of Mexico as often as possible to walk the beaches and collect samples. "We're trying to see who's the toughest kid on the block," he says of the spill’s components, in an attempt to figure out why these hydrocarbons cannot be biodegraded or even broken down by sunlight. In fact, sunlight alone can transform the oil that made it to the surface uneaten. "Nature has a vast toolbox to combat oil," he adds, although it remains unclear whether sunlight-transformed hydrocarbons are worse or better from a toxicology perspective.
>Even the smaller molecules cannot be consumed if there are not enough nutrients in the water as well, like nitrogen or phosphorus. "Nutrients regulated biodegradation," Joye says. "That could be why so much oil sedimented out, they degraded as much as they could." In fact, the microbes may have been hampered not only by limited nutrients because the microbial population boom may have meant an accompanying boom in their predators or in the various viruses that can infect these spill-eaters. Moreover, one of the biggest requirements for these microbes to eat hydrocarbons—oxygen—is not present at all in the sediments of the deep or the muck of Louisiana marshes. That is why oil from the Macondo well persists in those places five years later—and perhaps for eons to come.
>"Microbes are like teenagers," Reddy says. "You can ask them to clean the garage over the weekend. Can they do it? Yes. Will they do it? Maybe. Will they do as good a job as you want? Probably not."

That gif reminds me of a trick I would play on everyone, I honestly got away with it for TWO YEARS because nobody could figure it out.

I'd take a fully ripe female fish that we had harvested (doing spawning surveys on some fish) and I'd put it up under their bumper on the truck. The lip of the interior part of the bumper is curled so it makes a nice little pocket that would hold the fish in place indefinitely.

So they'd have this stinking fucking back end of a truck and never be able to figure out where it was. You just throw a fish in the bed or whatever or in the box DUH, but they would never find what came to be known as.....

We knew about it significantly in advance of the attack, but the government decided to ignore it in order to have an excuse to enter WWII.
