I'm constantly worried about Deir ezzor. Back after Palmyra's leiberation we all hoped for a quick relief of the siege, but then events other places makes it seem far away.
Also, I have wondered about the persistency of the ISIS attacks, no matter how many times they are repulsed they always try again.

Well, the troops are already there, and they've been bombing that town for years and years. If they crush that pocket they can send the troops in that area elsewhere.
It's not like they can simply move those troops halfway across the country, the enemy in that area isn't going anywhere and could launch its own offensive.
