Impeachment reached phase 2 out of three.

In phase 2, she loses her president status temporarily for 180 days max, where she'll be subjected to a trial soon amist these days.

While she's vacant, her VP took over, which is Michel Temer.

yep, she's out of the office for 6 month, basically for nothing.

And it's almost certain than in 6 month, her impeachment will be definitive.

Technically, the party that took the power consistently lost all the elections since ages. So as they were unable to get into power electorally, they did it with a "soft" coup.

Roussef is pretty unpopular, but Temer is even less popular, and this will worsen very quickly.

My bet is they'll go to a fully featured dictatorship to avoid further elections they would loose to PT

The concept of "white" here, as you have noticed, is very elastic.

The one drop rule does not work here.

Enough to have lighter skin than the others.

For example, the Minister of Education - Mendonça Filho - has prominent indigenous traits.

But for political purposes (especially for the leftist discourse), he is a "privileged member of the white elites".

Dilma is done. Yet no matter what one can say, if Lula run for the next elections, he'll be elected.

So the next move of the putschist will be to make sure Lula can't run for another presidency.

>They would not agitate the lower classes to riot
one of the first decision of the new power is to cut social benefits to lower classes. What do you expect doing it ?

neoliberalism is a common word to describe what was the configuration of the capitalism in the 1880-1930 period.
And today, coming back to this configuration is labeled as "modern".

My dear radical socialist, to paraphrase Tom Jobim, the Brasil isn't for newfags.

There is an amorphous mass in Brazilian politics, which dates back to 1964, which are the remains of a body set up to oppose the government's excesses. This amorphous mass grew to the point that the country becomes ungovernable if it is not the government side.

I'm talking about the PMDB. This thing embodies the center of the political spectrum. Watches over the status quo. Know itself to be indispensable, and not move a finger until the actual need. Since the end of military regime, there is no government without the PMDB.

If the PMDB is not on the government, there is no government.

Their plan is to maintain things as they are.
They will not try anything that interferes with it,
and will tear down anyone who tries.
>>
>>73909195
Coup has not been brutal because PT and Roussef did nothing that could make it turn that way.

and also the fact that Brasilian army which is for a good portion of it nostalgic to the precedent dictatorships would have not supported her.

All sucessful coups were unconstitutional. It is not a coup otherwise.

>It has to do with a band of thugs like we see here using the political system to their advantage to get into power without actually having to participate in any vote.

Then it is what you said, a band of thugs using the political system to their advantage. It is not a coup. It is completely constitutional. The moment Dilma became president, she signed a big fucking paper that said she agreed to be subject to the rules of the ongoing impeachment.

Stop with your shitty leftist semantical wankering. It is not a coup. If you interpret the event to be as a power grab made by our politicians, so be it. Objectively, it is not a coup.

Well it says a lot about his views on women. Two people 42 years apart have very little in common, very little to talk about. Suggests he married her only for her looks and youth. Also given his age he's probably already been married before, suggesting he traded his original wife in for a younger model. Could be wrong, though--perhaps his prior wife(or wives) divorced *him* instead of the other way around.

as long as the destitution of a president bypasses the letter and the spirit of the constitution, it is a coup.

also the fact that the legal basis of the whole procedure is for the very least pretty unclear.

It could be acceptable should elections be held just after the impeachment.

>>73909979
once again legality of this is very arguable, and the concept of "irreparable hole in the public accounts" is something that doesn't exist for a state. Protip: Inflation is there for that purpose.

Brazilians must urge their new President to stop the Olympics in Rio this year. Not only it's detrimental to their country's economy with their crumbling infrastructure but more importantly the Olympics in Rio can become the vector for Zika virus to spread worldwide.

Then it's not a coup, all was done within the constitution and it's spirit that includes responsibility laws, which the cunt broke.

You can take your purposeful inflation and shove it up your ass with a baguette.

Here you have how much dept the cunt made, let's not forget how she lied that everything was just fine right before reelections, while ramping up debt even more, to pay for welfare programs that she had to cancel and cut down right after winning because reality hit.

So she lied about the situation, created debt by decree to pay for unsustainable welfare and later on admitted to these things, that are crimes under the constitution.

Only chico would be here defending her from france.

No, it's not. Intentional delay in the transfer of funds, opening a liability with interests, is loan, whose contract without authorization from the legislative is crime of responsibility, typified by the Fiscal Responsibility Law and the Impeachment Law.

>and the concept of "irreparable hole in the public accounts" is something that doesn't exist for a state. Protip: Inflation is there for that purpose.

It is an extremely retarded solution, and people realize it quickly. Feel free to rip your money and export these Bolivarian stupidities to France.

Here, we know hyperinflation, and never will tolerate - another - government that make use of this mean.

>And we'll see how the "Lava Jato" is going to evolve, now that almost all of the people corrupted with personal enrichment are now in power.

No. Some - not all - who are in power are chronically corrupt. Old monkeys, as we say here. They are discreet enough, and above all sober, to keep away from the reach of justice without a fuss.

The President of the Senate, for example, is being accused of corruption for two decades - and is in government even longer. There are - today - eight cases against him. He has never been convicted. For nothing.

Who will, yes, it is those who have no privileged forum. Who will be judged by the ordinary justice - in this case, Sérgio Moro.

Lula is already in this group.

The economic fact is that the debt doubled during her rule and the interest rates on it increased to new record levels, we pay 15% on the debt, say that doubling it to be bigger than the whole economy is a bad thing is not that subjective.
The debt she made to kept the unsustainable social programs (just a small part actually for the poor) was just enough to trick people into thinking everything was fine until she won the election, as soon as that happened the truth came out, inflation high, industries that where created by artificial credit dying and taxes being raised to pay for all this.
Only a leftist can try and ignore reality this hard, if she wasn't impeached she would make more debt and later on go into money printing to pay for it. We would be like venezuela in no time.

only for some people, yet it's a working one

>and people realize it quickly.
Only those who have sleeping assets in financial circuits.

>Here, we know hyperinflation, and never will tolerate - another - government that make use of this mean.

sure, hyperinflation .. Let me tell you the story of France, during the glorious 30.

Between 1950 and 1980, France inflation was at something like 20-25% a year. Yet everyone could afford a house, borrow some money which in real term was with negative rate (so as time goes by it was easier and easier to pay the credit). It was "plein emploi" (full job), and the wages were indexed on the inflation.
It worked very well, up to the moment were they decided to try neoliberalism.

Now, we have 0 inflation (in fact a little deflation), 10 millions unemployment (and almost 5 millions with very poor jobs), credits are harder and harder to repay as time goes by, and no one can afford a home.

To be clear, inflation is bad only for those who doesn't use their money in the real economy. So as they are nothing but parasite, that's good if they loose their money in real terms.

TL-DR; inflation is by essence a tax on the very rich, but for average pple, it's OK.

Yes, but what killed the credibility of the government was the 180 degree change between october and november 2014.

The country was growing and people's life were getting better and suddenly after the ellection the government is broke and unable to keep the basic services, the largest company in the nation is bankrupt, electricity and gasoline got over 50% more expensive, interests rised to over 300% per year. Here in my state, Rio de Janeiro, they had to be forced by justice to pay pension for the retired. Many companies broke and unemployment exploded in that scenario.

The major impeachment support in the population was because Dilma painted a false country through lies and creative accounting, and avoided taking any unpopular measures that would cost her reelection, which was already by less than 2% over her opponent.

In a fair trial it's not a population you need to convince, but you have to bring proof of what one is accused of.

Sorry, but campaign ads are not eligible for proof.

Now let's sing a different tune: Moro is running for PSDB, and made it clear he wanted not only to make the PT bleed, but to put a bullet in PT's head. He even described how he should behave illegaly to reach his goal.

http://cartamaior.com.br/?/Editoria/Midia/A-hipocrisia-da-grande-midia/12/35765

Truth is that it is a coup organized by the BBB group of Brazil (Bible-Beef-Bullet). The 20+ hours of the senate were you have dictatorship nostalgic all refering to "god" was really something painful for your country, seeing you are still led by those religious bigots and archaisms.

Even the plastic duck symbolic that was seen on TV is something from the FIESP (Federation of the Industrials of Sao Paulo), is a clear evocation of the "March of the families with god and for the liberty" that just precedeed the 1964 dictatorship.

On the commission that decided to impeach Roussef, 36 out of 38 members were involved in Petrobras massive corruption scandal (were BTW Roussef is NOT CITED).

PSDB-PMDB want only to impeach Roussef fast, so they can blame all the country corruption on her, and definitively forget about the Lava Jato scandal and keep up the corruption as usual.

The real mistake of PT and Roussef was to keep this impeachment procedure as it is, and avoid reforming the political system of Brasil. In that sense, PT bear a large responsibility on what is happening.

Yet between two evil, PT is still the lesser one.

In comparison they are much better, but while they, and the media. like to pretend they are the opposition they were the government all this time. It won't solve corruption related problem, in fact having someone competent might be bad in this aspect.

With Dilma we got to the point that the parliament was so against her that they would approve programs that would damage the economy in order to make her life worse. It was an almost all out war between the executive, the legislative and the judiciary. Temer has a more conciliatory approach, and is someone close to the legislative which could help with the harmony. He also promised not to try reelection to make the former opposition to support him with no fear.

The worker's party and communist parties already said they would vote against everything from Temer regardless of the country but they are the minority.

I don't know the history of french economy so i can't say why your government had to stop inflating, it probably was around the time the tax in the rich got high and investment fled the country, i know that happened.
Over here we had HYPERinflation, 20% happened in a week, maybe in a day.
And even with "low" inflation of 10% a year, the rich protect their investments, the poor get no raises because indexing doesn't work.

If you really study all the country that had hyperinflation (starting from Weimar's republic), you find out that it's not a big problem for everyday's consumption. It just washes out all the bonds and assets you have in the financial system.

It's correct it make a lot of pple really butthurt, but it's not that bad for a country, and even it's a way to default on a given debt.

I admit nowadays, a pretty big part of the financial system is devoted to the retirement plans for the elders. Yet once again I can see what happened in France, especially during the German occupation.

The financiarized retirement plans were completely washed out by the devaluation of the Franc forced by Nazis. So the French gov. of Petain decided to pay directly for the retirements with a part of the social cotisations taken on the workforce.

In other word, a retirement plan by repartition, as opposed to the failed retirement plan by capitalisation.

And guess what, this is the system that is still massively used and working in France as of today, with remarquably less deficit (2%) than the state budget deficit (10% in real term). And such system is completely immune to inflation.

So no, hyperinflation is not such a big deal. It is a clear tax on the oisive capital, so that's why capitalists want to avoid it at any cost.

We must spread the English expression for "estelionato eleitoral", anon.
All right, gringos. What have happened here was what we call "electoral scam" - "estelionato eleitoral", or "171" as it is in our Penal Code.
Dilma promised everything and said that the runner-up, Aécio Neves, would destroy our country economicaly. She won and she did the very same things she said Aécio would do.
And ppl was really, REALLY pissed off, because it was not the first (1986), not the second (1989) and not the third (1998) time this happened. It was the FOURTH time (it's a huehuehue thing). And worse: like in 1989, the winner did a very mean campaign against the adversay and his supporters, and like in 1989, our economy surged after the ellections. We are in our worse economic crisis since 1929. Do not be fooled by leftist, SJW press: Dilma DOES DESERVE the ultimate doom she will face, in the jail or impaled.

Wrong. Anyone who accumulate capital - and this is the basis of wealth - loses in inflation.

>Only those who have sleeping assets in financial circuits.

People in general. Except the very rich, who can send money abroad, or quickly convert their assets.

>sure, hyperinflation .. Let me tell you the story of France, during the glorious 30.

Of course. Tell me how France taked advantage of the Marshall Plan handouts with free shit.

The French example is pathetic. Literally "how to ruin a great Economy burning money in just one generation". Very good!

Oh, and "how to create perpetual parasitical unions". Another great lesson.

I will not even mention the German example - exactly the opposite of you.

No, let me tell you another story.

In the late 1980s, under the government of José Sarney, we reached a stratospheric inflation.

1765% in 1989. The wages could not reach the end of the month. The price control was imposed. It did not work, of course.

Mass scarcity. The Brazilian currency was worth less than toilet paper - which was, of course, missing.

People, to maintain their income and savings, applied in Overnight - daily update applications. It was a nightmare.

No, it was not raining money, as in France 1946. Energy resources were expensive. Our consumer base disappeared. The workers could not buy. The money could not buy. There was nothing to be bought, anyway.

Learn economy, my dear comrade. "Products are exchanged with products." It not was your countryman who enunciated it?

Among the "solutions" appeared Collor, with the freezing of savings. It was the reason - political, not legal - for his impeachment.

The Brazilian economy only came out of the pit with the Real Plan - which eliminated the inflationary spiral, creating a monetary base of direct convertibility.

The impeachment is a strictly political judgement of administrative violations and the only penalty is political (lost of mandate and she becomes ineligible for 8 years).

But her party is in deep trouble with the justice over the Petrobras scandal, and she might be brought in when she loses her presidential immunity. In particular because she worked as one of the top supervisors for Petrobras and authorized some proven criminal operations.

This bro. When the Nazis rose, Weimar hyperinflation was over 10 years ago (with the creation of Rentenmark, by Hjalmar Schacht which later became Hitler's financial minister). It created such a deflation that led to massive unemployment which in turn caused the rise of both Nazi and Communist party.
German deputies and oligarchy finally ended up choosing Nazis and Hitler, to get rid of the communist. The same choice was in fact endorsed by the entire Europe, including England.

>Wrong. Anyone who accumulate capital - and this is the basis of wealth - loses in inflation.

>accumulate capital
>and this is the basis of wealth

Nope. Accumulate capital is not wealth, it's accumulating capital.
Technically, it achieves nothing.
Spending capital achieve something, it's called the economy.

So, for short, if you capital can't be accumulated because inflation, what you do with it ? You spend it in the real economy, which is technically the best thing to achieve growth.

All the Brasilian political parties are in trouble over Petrobras.

We have the same in France with Total. They used to be in every corruption scheme (now they no longer are, as all our politician are bought by Qatar (right) or Saudi Arabia (PS, aka fake left, aka shameful right)

Yes, and since prices are raising and your salary isn't following fast enough you get to the point you need a loan to cover the month expenses. And now you can't even pay one month of expenses and you have to pay a loan with very high interests. That's what is happening in Brazil.
>>
>>73922802
>All the Brasilian political parties are in trouble over Petrobras.
No, it's mostly the former government base (PT/PMDB/PP). Other parties have different scandals, in their own states. The other parties intersection with car wash operation is mostly the fact that the constructor cartel bribed pretty much all politicians.

Brazilian supreme court is almost entirely corrupted.

Et moi je suis un Français de France et les Brésiliens que je connais sont des opposants au PT.

This doesn't prevent me from thinking a little bit what's at stake. I see this as a US-inspired coup to try to further isolate Russia (as EU will be soon flipping on the sanctions). And as every "soft" coup attempted by the US, it'll end up with a really destroyed country, and a civil war.

Et de là ou je suis, j'en aurai franchement rien à foutre, si ce n'est ce reste d'humanité que j'ai.

a loan in a context of (hyper)inflation result in real term in negative rates.

So it's less a problem to repay a loan in that context. Once again, the French glorious 30 is there to testify it.

Capital accumulation is conditio sine qua non for economic growth.

It is the capital - in the broad sense - is what allows labor to become more efficient.

To ruin the possibility of capital accumulation - and this is what inflation does, destabilizing the entire long-term profit basis and eroding savings - and the efficiency goes to the hole.

Consume, consume and consume without accumulation, and thus inefficiently, is summed up in failure, loss of competitiveness and general poverty.

This is the difference between the robust and unstable economies, between developed and underdeveloped.

Some spare, others spent.

yes yes, do what is consistently attempted in every neoliberal countries in the last 30 years, and has worked not even once.

No matter how financial a capitalism is configured, 80%+ of its real input are from customer's consumption.

So yes, remove all the social benefits, so to make less customers and stop the economy.

A little pic for more courage !

Last year inflation was officially at 10.67%, the credit card interests were 431,4% by the end of the year. The minimum salary was only corrected in the following year.

Who took a loan because they couldn't pay their expenses then couldn't pay it back, which is why 30% of the population has defaulted.

i'm not saying that he should cut the social welfare debts, the tits that are being sucked by the commies are within the government itself. Public employees, real low rates for HUGE compannies, corruption in those government programs of wealth distribution, land distribution etc.

i used to work in a small village that was made out of giveaway land in the land distribution program. the second worst IDH in the state. people there were obligated to take loans to build fences (?). come on! loans are to boost production. what the govern did was to enslave those in debt.another issue was about the ownership papers. the family was suposed to stay for 10 years on the land and would receive the title of ownership. it never happened. what does happen is that if the guy isn't contributing with "the cause" he is expropriated, they take his land back. does not matter if he stayed there 20+ years...

another big tit is being sucked by the sindicates.

and so on... this pig of govern has A LOT of tits...

Interesting to see how race relations work in other countries.

It really reinforces my view that the west is very biased towards the American view of race relations, which is highly specific and doesn't apply to most countries.

Maybe, she will likely have her election rights suspended for some years.
But she will never run again, she wasn't very popular inside PT to begin with, and she's also the least popular president of our history.

>>73924627
No, the Senate will judge her, alone. 55 votes were cast against her, to be impeached definitely in the next 180 days, 54 are necessary. So they'll have to convince two senators that were against them, plus everyone that abstained.

you're still complaining because of the lack of real efficient agrarian reform in your country.

I do agree with you. that's something PT should have done really seriously, but carefully avoided to do so.

This is how corruption is working: make some fake agrarian reform, but make sure that you'll need a private operator (namely banks) so all the real benefit can be sucked by private hands. It's a pretty common scheme, and we suffer from the same problem in France, under other form such as PPP (public private partnership).

There is only one idea that I really wish to share with you: private sector is never as efficient as public sector, no matter how bad public sector can be.

The clear sample in France is for social welfare.

You have the public sector (sécurité sociale), and the private sector (assurances complémentaires - insurance companies).

The private sector administrative fees are 18% ish, while the public sector administrative fees are at 1.7%, less than 1/10 as expensive as private.

The idea that private sector do better at a smaller cost is just completely and definitively wrong.
