truth is that communist countries were always less degenerate since the end of ww2 because they stayed socially and culturally relatively unaffected by american mass media, and the soviets were (mostly, especially stalin and after) were ideologically pretty conservative and saw things like sexual liberation, gay rights, western liberalism generally as capitalist decadence. and still encouraged something resembling non-materialistic social values, masculinity, family and patriotism.
"cultural marxism" or degeneracy or whatever you want to call it has it's roots in marxist philosophy but it is something that thrived in a capitalist cultural milleu.
