Cincinnati Bell. $130/mo for four TV's and fiber.

Granted this is a 36 mo. promotional price, but even after that it would only be $180. Not bad for what you get, which is about 24 megabytes a sec.

Then again I suspect the price is good mainly because Cincinnati Bell had to intervene and beg the city council to give them a chance before the council finished inviting Google to come in.

what is the difference between MB/s and Mb/s? aren't they both just megabytes per second?
>>
>>73889725
Mb/s are little megabytes in lowercase. They are quiet and submissive. MB/s are strong alpha MEGABYTES that get what they want and like to show off their cyber muscles.
>>
>>73889725
No, Mb/s is Megabits per second.

b for bit: smallest piece of information, 1 or 0
B for Byte: smallest piece of information you can address, you can use at once, 8 bits word right now.
so Byte = octet = 8 bits

Call your provider and complain about being throttled. Or clean up clutter and see what programs you use on your devices and how many devices you have. Could also be old equipment like the router so all you need is an upgrade. But I'd call the provider anyway and try to outjew them for a better deal.
>>
>>73894345
Yeah I thought it was the router, what would be a fast router? I don't really know much about this stuff desu

ND here. Pic related is my speed at the office

I actually get a better download speed at home and pay about $40 a month for it. North Dakota is surprisingly ahead of the curve when it comes to Broadband speeds in the U.S. as far as your typical Cable internet provider goes.

We are getting affordable consumer fiber fairly soon. In the next year or two.

If your ISP is your typical shit ISP. I am rated at 60 Mb/s and get more like 80 Mb/s.

You're not wrong of course. You will get what you get. Only time you might be legitimately getting under what you should be is if the cable drops in your area are bad/old... and/or if your cable modem is not a newer standard (DOCSIS 3.0/3.1)
>>
I have a choice between charter and AT&T in my place. They literally have an agreement with the smaller ISPs to not operate here so they can continue to have a monopoly. I'd rather shoot myself than have either but I have charter, whose DNS servers recently shit the bed across the entire country.
>>
>>73890036

I have free wireless provided by comcast in my denver apartment.

it shits out daily, and chat/streams will disconnect temporarily hourly.

Comcast fucking blows so much.
>>
>>73884940
WOW! is pretty good desu and at least they're not Jewcast or AT&Jew.

I've never had speed reductions, no data caps, no copyright notices since they don't deal with copyright trolls, etc.

Not bad. Plus can sign in with Mobil device anywhere where the company has reception. Which nowadays is everywhere. Don't really download music or anything. It's 90% good for streaming Netflix etc. Plus the Mobil device usage is unlimited. I can play the Xbox online zero problems as long as I'm not watching a movie as well. Otherwise lag. Have the worst tv plan with it. They gave me some weird flat antenna that gets a 50 mile reception. Giving me the channels on tv that at one time were completely free. In HD lol.

Pay about $25 a month with no contract and can cancel anytime. Seeing that I have Amazon prime, Netflix, Hulu and the stars channel app...Im starting to not miss Verizon. There bullshit strike delayed my installation until next month. Their competition is what I'm using right now, and though it's not Fios and I don't have TBS, TNN etc...I don't miss it and can't justify paying so much more.
>>
>Wisconsin that high
Fucking bullshit
>>
I used to despise Comcast. It was the only cable ISP available for my old apartment and now my house. That said, they have been very accommodating in the last 6 months. Their customer service seems to be a bit better and they jacked up their data cap to 1TB. They didn't question me when I told them that their technician didn't include an amplifier for the cable drop (150'); sent another technician out and promptly fixed the issue.

I pay ~$120 for 50Mbps and HD cable w/ a DVR. Also can watch TV online (great for at work).
>>
>>73896357

We're being scammed Portubro, plain and simple. These companies are deceiving the right people and give a fuck less about anyone else's opinion. It's like I heard one German say on here " If you pay taxes then you are nothing more than a milking cow. "

Boo hoo.

I'm at work right now, but at home? I get 256kbps down and sometimes 56-100kbps up. When it wants to work.

Such is life living in the country. It's a wireless bridge to a node on the grain elevator 4 miles away. When grain trucks drive in front of the house it disconnects.
>>
>>73884940

The US ISP market is rotten to the core. We literally laugh at you. They buy outdated equipment from our ISPs because they don't need the latest stuff.

Your only hope is city networks and Google.
