What is wrong with this? The most interesting mechanics are unlocked for authoritarian regimes. Playing with a monarchy is fun as fuck,as you can enact whatever the fuck you want.

Depends how you choose to play it, there's a handy subsector system where you designate regions of your empire as a subsector and everything inside of it, building/upgrading, is automated by your subsector governor, if you choose to play that way all you need to manually control is your conquest of new worlds, which you can then pass off to subsectors. It seriously reduces the late game monotony of most 4Xs.
