The US is not a peaceful country, the way our country/military works does not take well to peacetime, and we need wars often to keep increasing our defense spending and technological gains.
Sounds edgy but it's one of the ways the US manages to remain the only true "superpower" on this globe.
The US has been in perpetual war with SOMEONE for something like 214 out of 235 years this nation has existed.
