Them being Democrats, and high-ranking ones at that, is what gives them immunity from the law. ~80% of the media is leftist, and many of the autistic bureaucrats whose job it is to prosecute people are leftists also.
If you stayed in the US long enough, however, you'd see that Republican politicians always get the shaft as soon as they do something slightly out of line. Part of it has to do with how Republicans mistrust government as part of their core ideology, so they're not afraid to prosecute members of their own party - in fact, it increases their popularity with voters if the do so. The other factor is that every Jewish comedian and liberal news anchor in the country immediately goes straight for the jugular of any Republican that makes a mistake.
It sounds like I'm shilling for (R)s, but I'm being completely objective right now.
