If so, WHAT is the old elite that you wish to re-empower? Haven't they all succumbed to the new elites, fusing with them totally? Are you proposing theocracy, alternatively? Precisely what aspects of capitalism are you opposing? These are all very woolly terms.

You're confusing materialism and consumerism. Just like communism, capitalism declares that all that matters are material conditions. But as for consumerism, I don't care about bourgeois decadence. Luxury goods are not a measure of anything useful or essential to the human condition. The patterns of mass production unleashed by capitalism and championed by communism is simply trampling over artisans and human craft in favour of a world of machinery, factories and finance.
