Religion is culture + morality + faith.
If two of those are in some way corrupted the result will be as well.
In Islam's case the substrate culture is violent and the morals are exceedingly tribal. As a result, the entire construct is inherently degenerate and degenerative to a society more advanced than roughly something on the medieval level.
