I agree. The founding fathers were a little short sighted on how much theUS would develop. However the Militia Act of 1903 states that all able bodied citizens are part of this "militia" which is why politicians don't attack that part of the 2nd amendment. Instead they have been able to introduce regulations by saying what the militia can have.

It really doesn't. The point of an armed populace is for the purpose of being able to drum up a militia (specifically, a militia that answers directly to the President) at an emergency's notice.
17th ammendment for sure. Having senators elected by popular vote seems good on paper, but having your senators bending over backwards to please the common plebs instead of actually focusing on their jobs is a huge detriment.
