Subsistence hunting is pretty cool. I hear in some parts of the US, you can donate game meat to homeless shelters.
It's one of the few activities which allow population control between animals, the consturction of reserves for endagenered species and gives funds to governments to keep rangers/forest guards going.

I think that if you hunt to eat the animal or to remove nuisance animals like rabbits that fuck up your garden its ok. here we have huge problems with wild hods destroying farm land, so we kill them in droves. Sometime people eat them, but usually the goal is just to kill as many as possible.
Hunting is important to do. Deer easily adapt and can be found living in metropolitan areas without a problem. Its a hunter's duty to keep deer out of our cities.

Yeah. The number of "trophy hunters" that leave the rest of the carcass to waste in the woods is a miniscule small number of assholes. The meat all gets donated somewhere. (If it isn't given to a friend of the hunter that wants the meat.)
Shelters will take them if they've got connections with a local butcher, trade schools use them to train others on game preparation and butchering then sell or donate the meat, etc.
There are areas of the country that hit thousands of deer with cars every year. As long as they're fresh (broken leg and crippled at the side of the road, vs. exploded organs by a semi) the cops will put a bullet in them right there and they collect them for prisons. Of course, it's also often illegal to keep the kill for yourself in some of these states.

that's the problem. We expanded too much, destroyed a lot of natural habits and hunted predators too much, so the preys' population tends to get out of control very quickly. For example we have a huge problem with wild boars where I live because there are not enough wolves left

Depends on what you are hunting, and even then a dog isn't really required unless you are shooting some bird out on a lake and you have no recourse of collecting the bodies. Dogs do come really handy though with Cougars and bears, release a pack of them on the cat/bear, it'll climb up a tree then shoot it. Also good at flushing rabbits out but so are gunshots.

I've been hunting my entire life. It's one of my favorite things to do, purely because you're getting off the beaten path and spending time intensely involved with nature. You're not just hiking, your hiking while investigating your surroundings with the intent of collecting meats. I grew up deer hunting, but not really into it as much anymore as I know plenty of people that just give me meat after they go. I'm pretty much 100% duck hunter these days with some other birds thrown in.
All hunting isn't good though. Trophy hunting sucks dicks. I've done it, when I was younger. South Africa and killed about 18 animals, had them all mounted and shipped back to the states. Not my thing, not really hunting. More like shopping with a rifle. That being said pretty much 100% of the animal was used. We ate and fed the establishment and it's workers with the meat we took and any leftovers were given to locals.
Overall hunting is great. It's just an experience that that scratches a deep primal itch that not much else can really. I'm not even talking about killing, that doesn't get me off. It's just being out there. I feel terrible every time I take an animal, but it's worth it.

Hunting is THE main thing mankind is made for.
The only reason for bipedal, upright walking is that your viscerals don't hit against your braething apperatus, like a steamhammer while running. Also we have hairless skin so our body can cool by swaeting - hairless skin is basically our huge main cooland system. Therefore humans can run extremely long dictances at a speed which forces quadrupedal animals to run fast/sprint. without having to stop like those animals.
Quadrupedal animals cool their metabolsim via panting, which they can't do while running since their viscreals hit against their phrenic like a steam hammer. So at some point they cannot continue to run away further because they suffur from overheating and heatstroke.
The animal then just stands there lethargically and can be easily ended.
Humans are cursorial hunters by design.
It doesn't matter if you use a spear, a bow or a rifle or other strategies than cursorial hunting. We are hunters and will always be.
