I'm a dad with two kids and thank God they are healthy and well.
The worst thing was when I had to rescue my daughter from the river. She didn't follow my instructions and was swept away with the current. I swam in and pulled her out. I told her that although the river looks calm on the surface, there are underlying currents that can be very dangerous. She just held me and cried. I just told her that I love her and that my directions are not arbitrary, but based upon experience. And she should do what I advise.
I almost drowned when I went surfing in the middle of winter. I had a full wetsuit, and got wrecked by a big wave.
Like being in a washing machine. I didn't know which way was up nor down. And the surfboard was tied to my ankle.
