On the other hand, it's the last remaining untapped continent. Plenty resources left because they lack the technology to exploit them. Plenty nature left because they lack the technology to pollute it.
The way I see it, Africa was humanity's cradle and it will be our retirement home after we wrecked the rest.

Bants aside its just this or slightly better, they had no global trade or wars. Just a bunch of way below adverage humans literally sitting on gold doing jack all. And the crazy part is that even after exposure to higher civilations and technologies nothing rubed off. Forests can be regrown, animal populations can be rebuilt, though of course it's a shame that whole races went extinct already. With enough persistence it would even be possible to drive back the deserts, there are some small scale projects which have gotten amazing results with reforestation.
