For the record I was Christened as a baby and was sat in a church desperately trying to make the Bible make sense to me just 6 years ago.

Let me put it in context.
You have a friend, he is constantly annoying you, he does little things that bug you all the time, he borrows things, asks you for money, tells jokes that hurt your feelings, etc.
Then one day you are crossing the road and he pulls you off the road, at that moment a speeding out of control car zooms right down the way you were walking.
You are now on your death bed, your friend now comes to you, "was I a good friend to you?".
Do you judge all the negative things he did against him or the one good thing he did for him? and do they hold the same value?

The main point is that the trinity and any implied reference to such a thing is missing or altered too.
