That's definitely my position, but it's quite a deep-seated thing with most Irish people to see partition as a heinous crime perpetrated on us by foreigners and (re)unification as our national birthright. Much like Brexiters do now, they might engage in fantasies rooted in vague nationalistic notions in order to justify such actions.
Or alternatively, the might point to the unification of Germany and how West Germany absorbing the absolute economic basket case that was Eat Germany might be a good model for Ireland absorbing the economic and social basket case that is Northern Ireland.
