Can someone explain to me why does /pol/ hate meds?
>>
>>73605947
I don't hate meds. They may cure degeneracy (temporarily at least).
>>
>>73605947
I dont hate all meds and definitely not people on meds.

The issue is that things like depression/anxiety etc are largely products of post modern urban life. Millions are dosed simply for the fact that humanity is unfit to make it alone in the information age.
>>
>>73605947
/pol/ doesn't hate meds. Retarded /pol/lacks who don't understand mental illnesses hate meds.

They can't grasp the idea that some people don't make enough neurotransmitters to keep themselves happy, no matter what they do.

Took prozac for a while. Didn't help much. Massive anxiety plus I only sleep about 3 hours a day.

Now a days I just take xanax, feels bretty gud. But I'm not taking it for a week because I'm gonna trip balls on lsd and benzos kill the trip.

OP is a moron. Prozac is an SSRI--an antidepressant. It takes weeks to start feeling the effects. It wouldn't do shit for panic attacks. OP is weak minded and falling for the placebo effect.

this is incorrect. i guarantee you you'd feel different within 4 hours of taking the pill for the first time. the pharmacology doesn't lie. what takes weeks to kick in is a stabilization effect. the first few days you take an SSRI can induce profound serotonergic effects including visual phenomena and hypomania

It's not all people in developed countries though, it's a cultural phenomenon most prevalent to the USA.

We can sit here and armchair philosophize reasons, but the US has a stress epidemic and a stigma against talking about it or getting real help. Instead we just take painkillers/benzos to just feel okay, which works long enough to get a productive life out of the wage slave, so it doesn't need to be addressed until it starts affecting the economy (which has been happening now)

I tried several different types of anti-depressants and was biologically immune to most of them. The one that did work made me really apathetic and somewhat happier.

Meds can be useful but the fact that many people need them at all is a product of the evolutionarily novel environment we this anon pointed out >>73606161

If you're actually depressed (and /pol/ is filled with these people) the you should at least try it and have some on hand if diet and exercise aren't enough, which sometimes aren't for people who have a genetic predisposition to depression.

meds are good but the drug culture of this modern age is degeneracy at its height, any little problem you have there is a drug to make the bad feeling go away. This is not the way any respectable human being should live their lives.

I read this article a while back by a psychiatrist who talked about how people come to him complaining of feeling unhappy and then ask for prescription meds, as if unhappiness is some sort of disease.

This.

I have no hope for the future and every day things just grow more decadent. I don't feel any connection to other people and the future of the West makes me depressed as shit. Wish I could've been born in a different time period. I don't blame white men who drop out of society, things are just going to get worse and worse. When you feel no connection to society and get no rewards there's no reason to see things differently. Most of the people with depression tend to be leftists and posers so that just isolates me even more.
>>
>>73605947
Because we are just beginning to learn how the brain works. Prozac doesn't treat anything, it just alleviates symptoms. Its good they worked for you but there are a lot of people they don't work for that end up killing themselves or others. Its lazy healthcare to just throw pills at people.

I don't mind medication when used properly. But I hate it when parents demand that their kids be drugged up just because the kid doesn't act exactly like them and they don't know how to fix his behavior, nor can they keep themselves calm when trying to talk about the problems hes facing. They look to a doctor for a convenient label for the kid's problem, and will take whatever conformation bias tainted answer he gives them, which he will give because he wants their money. This is especially a problem among single mothers, who don't understand what boys are actually like. It tends to do more damage than it fixes.
