Obama killed Bin Laden
>>
Obama mostly continued bush's domestic policies.

And Bush started the recovery. He knew we were in a bubblr, so he accelerated the lending collapse, because the longer a bubble is allowed to stay, the worse it gets. This was his last year in office, so of course Obama would see most of the recovery.

OK, but when gas was above $3 in 2011 or so, conservashits were freaking out about how the gas price went up. Pic related.

Now, gas costs the same as it did in 2004, and the conservashit response is "hurr the President has nothing to do with that".

I'm not a conservative and only vaguely interested in American politics, the GOP stance seems like talking points and speech ammo to me, and it's a fact that Obama isn't the reason oil prices have stagnated/lowered. It's purely a middle eastern affair, once the conflict ends it'll rise again, but it's good for Obama since he can put the feather on his cap.

You probably mean 2008, although $5 is probably an exaggeration unless you were returning your rental car after your Disney vacation. When we had the financial crisis, the price of everything collapsed (including gas) down from about $4 to under $2. Conservative wingnut images that came out in 2011-2012 cherry-pick that particular year to make it seem like Obama was responsible for raising the price of gas, even though Obama never beat Bush's record of $4/gal.

Today, gas is the same price it was during the financial crisis, except there's no financial crisis going on (at least not yet) and conservashits say:

The real issue is that no matter who turns out to be president the net results will remain the same the only difference is how they are marketed to the american people.
By in large George Bush wasnt even a president as he spent something like 40% of the time on vacation.
People equate the 2008 financial crisis to Bush but it was Clinton policy that deregulated the banks in the first place
By in large politics is a joke anyways as there is no real representation you just have canditates who are well funded and marketed by a huge machine dominated by banks and corporate conglomerates that own everything

If Donald Trump is funding his own campaign and he wins the presidency i have no doubt he will be assassinated.
My best guess is Trump has to be getting outside funding and is just lying about where his money is coming from as i doubt he is doing this for the best interest of the american people.
It would be kinda hilarious if he was just doing this to put in policy things that would favour real estate. No wonder he wants to build a wall

The difference between a recession year and a non-recession year, although the GDP growth number is a blatant lie. Barack Obama has not had a single year above 3% GDP growth.

Moreover, the cost of gasoline and oil imported are in spite of his policies, not due to them. All new oil and has production has been on privately owned land beyond the reach of the EPA. They shut it down everywhere they can.

Iran's centrifuges is a guess based on fantasy. Teen pregnancy has been declining for over 30 years. Uninsured rate is pointless if the newly insured are receiving their insurance as a welfare program. Workforce participation by 25-54 year old adults is down 2%, almost exactly the difference in U-3 unemployment.

But Dow Jones is up. Way up. There's no spinning the fact we're in the bubble phase of a business cycle.

25-54 was climbing for more than 50 years, largely due to women entering the workforce, peaking in the late 90s under momentum from the Reagan economy. Now it's in decline. Why is that? Whose policies put it in decline? What relation does it have to welfare benefits?

Gas prices went up mostly due to inflation, which while the president doesn't have direct control over it he can heavily influence it. Bush massively increased inflation, and Obama did the same.

The reason prices went down is due to a massive increase in supply. New technologies and domestic production (encouraged by the Bush admin btw) came online and lessened our dependence on foreign oil. The international market changed and in an attempt to remain competitive OPEC flooded the market with cheap oil. That's why gas prices have fallen. It has a very tiny bit to do with Bush and almost nothing to do with Obama.

-Stock Market
Stock Market is inflated due to low interests. Obama carried over Bush Jr appointed Federal Reverse Chairman Bernanke whose QE policy printed money to spur economic activity. Instead the money is lent to Wall Street. Bernake's Obama-appointed successor "Janet Yeltsin" has continued the policy. (Recall the "Auto Bailout" also started by Bush Jr)

-Unemployment Rate
The Unemployment Rate has been lowered due to long-term unemployment no longer being counted.

-Ended Two Wars
Those two "wars" were already slated to end during Bush Jr's end. Also those wars will never end.

-Gas Prices
Gas Prices were lowered due to domestic oil fracking. Saudi Arabia flooded the market oil to retain it's market share along with the goal of shutting down US domestic oil production. This cycle also occured during the 1990s

-Deficit
The President has no spending powers. Other than veto the President has no control over the budget.

Spending powers belong to the House of Representitives which has been under Republican control since 2010. Not getting your "free" social programs the President promised? Blame congress.

-Bin Laden
Bin Laden was taken down Bush Jr's Mid East Military and Intelligence apparatus which includes torture techinques.

Futhermore Obama has not only continued Bush Jr mideast policies (drones) but expanded upon many.

Argubabely the worst things about the Bush Jr administration are now the best things under Obama
-Auto Bailout
-Wall Street
-Mid East

Im not saying everything is wrong or that there isnt anything but here's a few point outs...

-More people are insured, but it costs more to those who are insured to be insured

-Unemployment rate does not include NEETs and people who live solely on welfare, which is an ever increasing number and an all time high. Those people are not even considered part of the workforce so they dont factor into the unemployment equation.

>What Carter recession? You mean the 1982 Reagan Recession?
I mean -0.04% real GDP growth in 1980 and -1.40% in 1982. These were the result of the policies of Jimmy Carter and all the Democrat controlled Congresses since LBJ. Ronald Reagan took office in January of 1981. You realize that his policies don't get implemented the moment he walks in the door, right? That laws have to be passed a regulations changed? You realize that the economy doesn't immediately react to these changed, right? That it takes several months and sometimes upwards of a year for a change in tax or regulatory code to see a response in business behavior?

You understand that real GDP grew every year for 25 years after Reagan's policies were implemented, right? That it only came crashing down due to the lending policies of the Carter and Clinton administration being forced on commercial banks and the easy money policies of the Bush administration? This isn't too complicated for you, right?

>Right wingers vote Republicans because they want the economy to crash. They want their country to fail.
You've seen through us!

>All I see on right wing boards is right wingers shitting on their own country.

You do understand that Congress writes the budgets, right? That Reagan is the only Republican to successfully wring a conservative economic agenda out of Congress, albeit one far more timid that he sought? That Democrats had near monopoly control of Congress from 1933 to 1994 with very few periods of Republican control of either body? See >>73605316

Debt to GDP may never recover from their reign thanks to mandatory non-defense spending and the lack of will to cut wealth transfers.

Holy shit dude. You're fucking clueless. Everyone with half a brain knows that Ronald Reagan caused a massive, severe recession with his disastrous first budget.

That's the thing right wing retards always got wrong about Reagan. HE CAUSED the 1982 REAGAN RECESSION.

GDP growth in 1981 when he took office was POSITIVE.

Even Milton Friedman admitted that was Reagan's recession.

Fuck I remember reading about it in Trump's Art of the Deal way back when.

You motherfuckers just rewrite history. I swear to god. If Carter was so bad then why does he have the 2nd best job creation of all time, behind only Based Bill Clinton? HUH? That's what I thought bitch.

Carter, in just 4 years created over 10 million jobs. UNBELIEVABLE.

So give me a break with your bullshit.

Reagan caused his own recession, he TRIPLED the deficit, he TRIPLED the national debt.

http://www.pewresearch.org/2010/12/14/reagans-recession/

READ. Educate yourself. You're making falsehoods.

>That it only came crashing down due to the lending policies of the Carter and Clinton administration being forced on commercial banks and the easy money policies of the Bush administration? This isn't too complicated for you, right?

This is exactly what I mean. All you Republicans ever do is fuck the economy up and then blame Democrats. Every single time.

Based Bill Clinton left Bush one of the best economies in American history. 3.9% unemployment, a thriving economy, a $315 BILLION annual budget surplus, the national debt set to be paid off within 10 years, the highest labor participation rate in American history, and no wars.

Within 8 years, George Bush and the Republicans left America on its knees.

This is why Republicans can't be trusted with the economy. No matter how good a situation they inherit, they'll fuck it all up and blame Democrats.

That's why we call the 1946-1980 era in particular as the golden age. Because it was a period of heavy Democratic control.

The 1960's were the highest growth decade because you had Democrats controlling the House, Senate and presidency for an extended period of time.

The "highest economic growth decade was the 1960s. Income tax rates were 90 percent."
http://www.politifact.com/punditfact/statements/2015/may/17/bill-gates/bill-gates-high-taxes-and-high-growth-can-co-exist/

>inb4 Bill Gates doesn't know anything about economy

The worst thing for America is for the Republicans to control the House, Senate and presidency all at the same time.

This has only happened twice for an extended period of time in the last 100 years.

The first, from 1921 to 1933, caused the Republican Great Depression.

The second, from 2001, 2007 led to the Great Republican Recession. Thankfully Obama averted a 2nd Republican Great Depression.

The facts are in. Right wingers vote Republican because they want to kill the economy.

If you think the economy was healthy when Reagan took office, you're even more delusional than I thought. Reagan implemented policies to address inflation, unemployment, and stagnant growth. The policies addressing inflation pushed through the federal reserve were met with an immediate negative results but long term benefits. The 13.5% inflation rate when he entered office was entirely unsustainable. Policies to address unemployment and stagnant growth had to go through Congress and the bureaucracy, which is a slower process.

>If Carter was so bad then why does he have the 2nd best job creation of all time
If Carter was so good, why did his policies lead to stagflation? Again, see: http://www.multpl.com/us-real-gdp-growth-rate/table/by-year
1.30% GDP growth in 1979. -0.04% in 1980. 1.29% in 1981. All three were after budgets, rules, and regulations passed by an entirely Democrat controlled Congress and signed by Carter. Those numbers are anemic by any standard.
Inflation was at or near double digits every month for each of those three years as well. See: http://www.usinflationcalculator.com/inflation/historical-inflation-rates/

>Carter, in just 4 years created over 10 million jobs. UNBELIEVABLE.
The overwhelming majority of those jobs came in his first two years, before his policies impacted the economy. Picture very related.

>Reagan caused his own recession
Reagan addressed serious economic problems he inherited.
>he TRIPLED the deficit, he TRIPLED the national debt
Automatic spending increases from LBJ's Great Society tripled the deficit. See picture in >>73612239 . Reagan tried to address this and both Democrats and Republicans in Congress refused.

>Based Bill Clinton left Bush one of the best economies in American history...
You just said nothing of the policies coming out of Janet Reno's Department of Justice, which coerced banks into giving people subprime loans they would never have done without government intervention. This was done using underlying statutes from Jimmy Carter's Community Reinvestment Act of 1977. You said nothing of Fannie Mae policy of buying up said loans under James A. Johnson so as to guarantee banks would issue them, knowing full well default rates would skyrocket years down the line. You said nothing of the expansion of the Community Reinvestment Act in 1999, undertaken at the request of Democrats. You said nothing of the Commodity Futures Modernization Act of 2000, signed into law by Clinton.

This was bad policy for good politics. They could increase home ownership rates in the short term and let someone else deal with the consequences of massive defaults after they're out of office.

>Within 8 years, George Bush and the Republicans left America on its knees.
Every year until 2007 was a fairly normal year for the US, economically speaking. The housing collapse ended that. The housing collapse was a direct result of the policies of the Carter, Clinton, and Bush administrations. The Clinton administration, in particular Janet Reno and James Johnson, were the worst offenders by far.

>This is why Republicans can't be trusted with the economy. No matter how good a situation they inherit, they'll fuck it all up and blame Democrats.
This is why Democrats can't be trusted with facts. No matter how explicitly laid out which laws had negative consequences, Democrats ignore them and instead check the date on the calendar. Recession started in 1982? Must be entirely Reagan's fault. Recession started in 2007? Must be entirely Bush's fault.
>>
>>73612355
Finally, I would note you've just contradicted yourself. Earlier, you linked Trump calling the "Reagan/Bush" recession of 1990 the worst recession since the Great Depression and possibly worse, repeating his sentiment. Now you're calling the Carter recession of 1982 the worst recession since the Great Depression. Which is it?

>The 1960's were the highest growth decade because you had Democrats controlling the House, Senate and presidency for an extended period of time.
The 1960's were the highest growth decade since WWII because of the Tax Reform Act of 1964, an across the board tax cut pushed hard by JFK and passed shortly after his assassination. The negative consequences of Hart-Celler (1965) and ever increasing mandatory spending obligations from the federal government due to LBJ's Great Society had yet to begin. Reap the benefits today, pay the price tomorrow.

>Income tax rates were 90 percent.
The highest rate was 91% in 1960, only applying to those with declared incomes exceeding $3m adjusted to 2012 dollars. Deduction were significant, meaning virtually no one paid the highest rates, not even the superwealthy of the day. By 1969, the top rate was 70% on income exceeding $1.25m adjusted to 2012 dollars. Even at this lower top rate, virtually no one paid it.

>The worst thing for America is for the Republicans to control the House, Senate and presidency all at the same time.
The worst thing for America is high tariffs and high taxes.
>The first, from 1921 to 1933, caused the Great Depression.
Progressive Republicans under Herbert Hoover caused the Great Depression with the Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act in response to what was a panic. Herbert Hoover and FDR then extended the Great Depression by significantly increasing taxes and experimenting with such things as price controls.

>The second, from 2001, 2007 led to the Great Recession.
The Great Recession was primarily caused by the Clinton Administration with assistance from Carter and Bush.

The facts are in. Progressives for Progressive, be it Democrat or Republican, because they want to kill the economy with more government authority.

It's been going down since 1999. If you had a grade 1 education and could actually read charts, you would know that.

What does any of this have to do with the Obama unemployment rate being 5%?

I'm not conceding anything. I said it's been going down since 1999. It peaked because of the incredible Clinton economy. Now it's returning to normal levels. Let's try this. Why do you think it's down? GO.

>>
>>73622162
>Why do you think it's down?
A variety of reasons. Government benefits incentivize non-participation, most notable programs began under LBJ's Great Society. Obamacare further incentivizes non-participation by providing people who drop out of the traditional work force with government health insurance. A plethora of other programs exist which you've never heard of and I'm sure many I've never heard of to provide people who choose not to work with free housing, free phones, free clothing, free food of their choice, etc. At some point, for someone with few skills and no desire to earn their keep, giving up becomes the most attractive option. It is not a coincidence that labor force participation peaked when workfare was added to welfare by the Republican Congress in the mid-90s and Clinton was forced to go along to end the stalemate. It is not coincidence that when President Obama and the Democrat Congress kept extending unemployment benefits and removed the workfare requirement to receive welfare, participation dropped.

See that? A response which quotes specific acts by Presidents and Congress with logic as to why it is relevant. You've provided exactly zero such responses.

>What does any of this have to do with the Obama unemployment rate being 5%?
Lower labor force participation excludes more people without jobs from this statistic. If 2% of people go from being unemployed but seeking work to not participating, the unemployed rate drops by 2%. This does not means 2% of the population found jobs and this is one of the reasons U-3 is a deceptive measure of job health when taken alone.

>I already BTFO you right here >>73608757
Except I provided facts and you provided... nothing. You made an assertion and claimed to have won with nothing to back it up except the date on the calendar.

This is where you LOSE.

The U4 (not U3), unemployment rate INCLUDES DISCOURAGED WORKERS. It's 5.3%.

So your little conspiracy theory is BTFO.

> If 2% of people go from being unemployed but seeking work to not participating, the unemployed rate drops by 2%.

That's not how it works. And like I said there's only 560,000 discouraged in the entire country. And my guess, and yes I'm speculating, that's mostly right wing retard Trump voters who are useless because they don't have skills.

Got it? U4. DISCOURAGED. 5.3%.

Case closed.

>It peaked because of the incredible Clinton economy.
As stated earlier, the "Clinton economy" was a result of Reagan's policies. Well, most of it. Some growth in housing was a result of the dangerous policies of Janet Reno and James Johnson which directly led to the wave of mortgage defaults and market collapse. I'll give Clinton those points.

>It's been going down since 1999. If you had a grade 1 education and could actually read charts, you would know that.
And if you could understand cause and effect, you'd know that laws and regulations are passed which have consequences, and those consequences are not immediately seen. I've quoted specific laws and their specific effects. Again, you've quoted nothing. You're throwing out statistics with dates with no understanding of why they're relevant or irrelevant.

Republican was President when bad thing happened. Republican's fault. Disregard laws surrounding it.
Democrat was President when good thing happened. Democrat's did it. Disregard laws surrounding it.
This is your logic. This is the logic of a 4th grader.

5.3% of people are unemployed or discouraged. 62.8% are participating. The elderly, those 65+, are 14.1% of the population, and 18.6% of those participate in the labor force leaving 11.5% of Americans who are over the age of 65 and retired. 20.6m Americans are enrolled in university, many of whom work, but we'll pretend none of them are working. That's 13% of the 159m people in the labor force.
5.3% + 62.8% + 11.5% + 13% = 92.6%. Where are the other 7.4% MINIMUM of adults in the US hiding? Are they all on disability? A large number of people are excluded from U-4 who do not work, are not retired, are not students, and are not disabled.

That chart tells me is that large numbers of people qualify for SSDI for conditions like depression and obesity. It's become a way for the government to take people off forms of welfare with requirements attached to them and put them on a more permanent form of welfare which was never meant to be welfare with no strings attached.

That chart tells me that people are choosing to retire early, in their 50s and early 60s.

That chart tells me that "taking care of family" is a large demographic. Has it gone up in the past two decades? Has it gone down? Have increased government benefits to single mothers had an impact on it? As I know you won't even bother looking and you'll completely ignore the questions whenever you see them, single motherhood is up as a direct result of massive government benefits.
>>

>And yes there are disabled. But only right wing assholes would criticize the handicapped and the crippled for not having jobs.
Not everyone receiving SSDI is disabled. Increasing numbers of people are receiving it for minor issues or non-issues.
http://apps.npr.org/unfit-for-work/

Thanks for the chart, by the way. It tells me what I already know, that millions of Americans are signing up for disability and millions of single mothers transitioning to jobs with less hours because they know daddy government will pick up the slack. I forgot some categories, but this really fills in those holes. I can't believe I forgot those stay-at-home moms the left hates except when they're single then the left loves them.

You're welcome for the charts. I post them all the time.

I'm glad you've determined that the problem in America is too many moms raising their children and too many 1 legged veterans who aren't toiling in the mines.

Meanwhile, if you actually bothered to look at the chart closely, you would see that the increase from 2004 to 2014 is mostly retirees (baby boomers) and kids going to school (higher high school graduation rates and more post-secondary).

Just admit you got BTFO.

I'm glad you're happy to see more women raising children in single parent homes and people receive disability for being overweight or having high blood pressure. I'm even more glad that through this entire thread you've never stopped being a jackass. I'm sure it really turns people off.

>Meanwhile, if you actually bothered to look at the chart closely, you would see that the increase from 2004 to 2014 is mostly retirees (baby boomers) and kids going to school (higher high school graduation rates and more post-secondary).
Except labor force participation is down among those 25-54. You've already admitted this. You linked a chart confirming exactly this. Why do you think it is down? You never answered that question, instead dodging it through this entire thread, repeating my very point as if it were a victory for you, and turning the question to me. I answered the question. Where's your answer? Dismissing it as "normal" is not an explanation. It was up. Now it's down. There has to be a reason. There has to be cause and effect. "George Bush was President" is not a cause. What did George Bush do to make it go down?

Right, you don't have an answer. You only have disparate facts and ad hominem. That's all you've ever had.

What is there to discuss?
Bush ended his presidency near a recession.
Obama did not.
The President is one of three equal bodies of government that control federal economic policy.
Much is handled at the state level.
Currency is controlled by the federal reserve
And the market is, for the most part, a capitalist free market, not a command economy.
Which begs the question, why are their nearly completely unrelated faces attached to these images?

In his defense, Barack Obama's guy then girl at the federal reserve has been "printing" virtual currency at an unbelievable rate for years. That is floating the stock market. Thus, Obama has had a direct effect on creating a stock bubble through government intervention. I'm sure if it bursts on January 21, 2017, our Canadian friend will look to see who was President that day and blame it on that person instead of Obama.

Obama also pushed an expansion of Medicaid onto as many states as he could, which drives down the "uninsured" rate through expanded welfare. Leftists consider shoving more people into Medicaid an accomplishment. Their goal is 100% of the population on Medicare whether we want it or not with no alternative.

but when the economy crashes and burns or when theres a war, fiat currency becomes useless and gold is the only way to purchase weapons and fuel. Maybe canada and the west is setting itself up to lose or just being plain stupid?
