I was doing that test a couple of days back but lost interest halfway through, and clicked finish without looking at or answering the second half of the questions. Got 106.
Someone pointed out that if you click just random answers for each question, you'll get results varying from about 90-95.
I'm not sure if that test is all too reliable.

First of all, let's settle on the fact that my IQ is 139, not 161. Internet IQ tests compared to real IQ tests are the equivalent of listicles compared to literature.
So at 139, what can I do?
I can do most math in my head. Even relatively hard math like division of large numbers with decimals. This talent comes in handy about once every two years.
I remember the exact same amount as most people, but I have more access to my memory than most people. I.E., I have more control over my brain's internal function than a guy with a lower IQ. Somewhere in my brain are all the formulae and so forth than I've learned in school. And I can make myself pull them up from the forgotten depths, MOST of the time. Because my brain is efficient like that.
I can do complicated logic puzzles that confuse most people. Why? Because I can maintain my train of thought. If I just deduced that Mr. Brown couldn't have fucked Mrs. White with the mocha-colored dildo, I remember that as I am evaluating other facts of the situation, and I can deduce more than a lower-IQ person because I am working with/deducing from more information at the same time than that of which they are capable.
At the same time, I'm a bit lazy, a bit under-motivated. So for you to say I should be able to easily breeze my way through university and get a PhD MIGHT be true. But it's never going to happen.
Also, I have met people with IQ's much higher than mine. Not a whole shitload of people, but the ones I have met have been mostly miserable people.
There is a strong tendency among high-IQ people to view the rest of mankind with a degree of contempt. This is not useful.

Online IQ tests aren't quit reliable though. Legitimate intelligence tests involve a psychiatrist, preferably with the assistance of real-time MRI scans as you go through the tests. Some people may score considerably higher or lower. I took IQ tests as means of diagnostics when I was 14, as I'm slightly within the autism spectrum. Even though the results results are conforming, the condition isn't.
Expensive (depending on your health plan), but definitely worth a try, regardless of your mental health.

My parents did not take any intelligence tests but my mother falls under the autism spectrum as well, and her condition is more easily noticed, with the main difference being she's very outgoing, while I'm more reclusive. We're also Jewish, so that might as well contribute to that.
You should read about Xq28 duplications, X-chromosome inactivation and how they affect intelligence.
They currently believe at least 75% of IQ variations within family members is attributed to the X-chromosomes. That means if you want your children to be intelligent, if doesn't matter how intelligent you are, if you marry a cretin, your male offspring (XY) will be just as intellectually impaired as their mother. Girls (XX) have better chances of developing average IQs, which explains why women have such a small IQ range in comparison to men: we have many geniuses, but we also comprise the majority of the mental asylum population.

How legit is this? I always hear about people talking about their IQ, is there some standardized test that people take at some point in their life? Besides the internet bullshit tests I've never heard of such test being administered.

Reminder that the mean IQ of a college graduate is 115. If you graduated from a top ~10 program in your country then you could quite easily have an IQ of 130+.

Take these online tests with a grain of salt, they are highly inaccurate to the real ones. Was tested twice by 2 different psychiatrists, first one was 137 and the second on 136. Apparently, your IQ shrinks as you age and there's no way to test higher that before

There is a standardized one, several one actually, longing around 2 hours, done by a psychologist and actually costing money. It's almost confidential. (meaning you don't read the questions on wikipedia)

A little bit. I have two sisters with ADD, a brother with assburgers (IQ 131) and a sister with mild assburgers so it runs in the family.
I got 130 and spammed guesses on the last 4 questions because the timer ran down while I was on the phone.
It's a stupid test because the method for solving them stays the same for multiple questions so you just get different permutations of the same problem. Figure out what the pattern is for one and you can get the next 3 or 4 right just by applying the same solution.
Also online IQ tests mean nothing and always inflate their results because people are more likely to share the page and generate traffic if it makes them feel good about themselves.
Guessed the last couple questions cause couldn't be fucked. Still did alright.

also i find it hard to tell if this test is just "oversimplified" (its not simple but reduced to one topic, in contrast to many other test ive taken) or if this is actually a good way to figure out how well ones brain is working

Not in the slightest. It could be confirmation bias in that only people who already know they'll do well try the test, and only those who actually do well posting here, but even then. Regular 130+ results with most people here half assing the test should raise some questions.

I got tested as a kid at the local university and scored 136. I think I was 8 or 9 at the time. I have no clue what I could score on a pro level test now.
the only thing I've ever really noticed about being in the top 2ish% of the pop IQ wise is I just catch on to stuff faster then most people. It's not night and day level it's like 1/2 a step at best.
