I think he existed but if you mean to ask if the full set of depictions of him in the New Testament amount to whatever "real" jesus was, then I would say absolutely not. The New Testament is semi-historical and semi-mystical. On the historical end it's incomplete, it doesn't give a full accounting of his life. Instead it's idealized and smoothed bits and pieces -- not enough to give a complete tapestry of the man. On the mystical side the accounts we have were ostensibly written years, decades, and hundreds of years apart. The myths shifted and shimmered with time and peoples.
