Corruption there only operates differently than it does here, I wouldn't say it's any better it worse, as far as it impacts citizens within the country. However, the corruption our country produces has a more far reaching effect on the rest of the world because of our relative power, making it more caustic.
I disagree less and less with the low level of political freedom there because of how badly democracy is failing in the west. If I could submit to authoritarianism to stem the destruction of my culture, I'd be happy to adopt it.
The economy is the biggest worry I have. Even without sanctions, the Russian economy has been stumbling under the weight of its rampant crony capitalism. Even though I know the media exaggerates the dismal quality of life there, it's clearly not as nice as it is here.
Learning Russian to hedge my bets in case I do immigrate in the future. Not a bad country, ideologically speaking, but I'd be reticent to move there because of difficulty finding work.

2. 8. I went to Russia for business. To Moscow for work and St Petersburg for holiday. A very beautiful country and people are very interesting. Very cool history and culture. Putin supports the Shia which I'm thankful for. He is called an honorary Shia and is pretty popular among Iraqi Shia. Russia loses 2 point for corruption and not ditching Turkey for Iran sooner!
3. For awhile maybe. Iranians are much friendlier people but our government is much worse. I love Russia though and hope the best for it.

but I've spent time with both peoples and I can tell you Iranians are much friendlier and nicer people than Russians. And Russians that come to Iran (there has been a lot during the era of sanctions) say the same. Iran's government is bad but it will improve in time.
