http://nypost.com/2016/05/08/bride-wont-sign-prenup-throws-wedding-party-for-poor-instead/

>Yiru Sun was radiant in bridal white Saturday — even though she had called off her wedding at the last minute, instead turning her reception into a feast for the poor.

>The pretty Manhattan insurance executive was supposed to tie the knot in a lavish Upper East Side wedding Saturday. But after balking at the proposed prenup, she turned her heartbreak — and her non-refundable $8,000 reception deposit — into something beautiful: a luncheon for 60 needy kids and their families.

>“I should have been the bride. It was canceled,” Sun told her guests at the elegant Harold Pratt House at East 68th Street and Park Avenue. “Initially I felt frustrated,” said Sun, a vice president at New York Life Insurance, declining to dish about her former betrothed, not even to name him.

>“I don’t want to sign things I don’t feel comfortable with,” is all she’ll reveal of the prenup dust-up.
>>
>>73461969

Typical status signaling

The wedding was status signaling. I actually think the giveaway is worse than that.

Yeah, because you canceled it you hysterical fucking cunt.

This is why we used to put women in asylums for 'bad humors' and disobedience. Her mind is in another dimension because she cannot come to terms with how fucking conniving and selfish she is.

Really NYT? She's pretty huh? That's an objective fact for you to report here, not an emotive fnord stuck in the article deliberately to signal to the reader where his pretend-support should go?

OK fine she's an insurance executive. A well paid, well-dressed, thief.

Knowing nothing else about her other than that, I'm thinking anyone that would marry her without a pre-nup would be an utter idiot.

Whoever the guy was, it sounds like he just dodged a bullet.

Yeah I'm sure the 40-50% of marriages trusted each other too. Coming from parents that were divorced, my current gf's parents were divorced, and many other friends in the same boat, I won't get married without a pre-nup. Its for her security and mine. Doesn't the government get to do whatever they want if you don't sign one anyhow?

Am I the only one noticing that the prenup might just have been presented before the wedding? Do we have to be spergs and not realize that if she wasn't okay with a prenup she wouldn't have agreed to wedding planning, and this was a last minute panic deal by the groom, which IS disrespectful?
>>
>>73463794

It does. But if you fail to disclose any bit of your wealth, for example, the whole agreement goes out the window. If she didn't have seperate legal representation while signing it, it can go out the window. If a judge deems it unfair, out the window.

Just don't get married. Shit's expensive as fuck and you end up divorcing half the time.
>>
>>73463826
He's actually right believe it or not. Prenups can be thrown out if the other party can make the judge believe that it was signed under duress. Duress in this case being as simple as "being forced" to sign one for marriage, like >>73463972

or if it is written incorrectly by a shit lawyer. It's hard to say if they're actually worth anything because women get thrown into a fucking frenzy over them. Might be better off just going on without one and hoping your marriage doesn't fall apart. Or just not get married. Or live in a country where cohabitation for more than a year is not equivalent to marriage.

Always get a prenup. When I married my ex she had a lot more money than I did. Then I started earning as much as her, and then more than her. She stopped working for a year, and when I kicked her out of the house she decided to go for alimony. Turns out she had been funneling a bunch of money to secret accounts and lying about a lot of our finances. Two years and $50,000 in legal bills I was free. Don't think for a second a woman won't try to take you for everything you've got just because she can. She will and her cunt friends will be cheering her on.

My grandad had a good turn of phrase about meeting women - "If you want to buy a pig, go see a pig farmer, not the pig-seller at the market". Ie. - if you look for potential mates at a place where people drink, take drugs , engage in promiscuous sex and listen to loud music - that's the sort of woman you'll find.

This is a good thing for the husband. If a woman won't sign a pre-nup it blatantly says she is going to cuck you and is marrying you with the full intention of taking everything you own.

>Knock off the bit about "family or friend" - that's just asking for trouble. I trust my financial adviser and accountant - they were suggested to me by my family and friends, just... they're professionals and NOT family and friends.
The reason for this is because if you give the money to a professional then it is traceable back to you and it could be considered an asset to be split in the divorce.

>Maybe if you're really young or at the very start of the marriage but you really don't want to be in the position of not wanting to have children with you wife m8.

It is no different than starting a new job. you put everything you have into but always have at least 6 months of extra money to pay bills incase something happens.(car accident- you get fired while in the hospital, business goes under, anything)

in china, all money earned before a wedding belongs to the person who earned it. if a man is wealthy before a wedding and then gets divorced. the pre-wedding money is ignored from any divorce settlement.

there are a lot of gold diggers though. although it's a different society so one might argue that the filial duty of looking after the parents is the reason for girls wanting money in most cases, rather than designer goods. but this might change depending on class and city.

Marriage is a contractual agreement with the bind of law that has far reach financial implications for both parties involved.

I live in the US. Every state has an attorney general and every attorney general has a division within his office that handles nothing but child support. The federal and state governments know what most marriages are about. Most marital problems are about/over money.
>>
>>73475043
>Most marital problems are about/over money.
This I do agree with. So as adults who can handle [shared] money you and your missus should have sat down and discussed what to do about it if you split up/ one of you died etc. My and my wife talked about it when we did our first will together about 15 yrs ago.
It's not hard - it may be an uncomfortable discussion but sure as hell beats having to figure it out if/when it happens.

My missus and I will not split, but in case of my/her untimely death everything is already laid out in a notebook. Step by Step instructions of who to call and what to do. Three copies of the important documents. 1st at the house. 2nd at family house in same town. 3rd about 250 miles away in case our town gets hit by tornado.
I do not mind talking about death. I asked my woman’s dad(70years old) about a week does he know which funeral home and cemetery he and his wife want to be buried at. I know his family will be to distraught to make decisions.
We bought him something off ebay this past week and he asked "how much do I owe you" I said we will just settle up when you are dead. I joke around with him alot. That is why I like old people they have alot of wisdom.

Probably, but I wouldn't know because I don't hang around alot of people. My family and I went to a city wide celebrations. Different events at different times in different locations around town. We were sitting in our lawn chairs watching the event. Two different people at two different times came up to us and said "Your children are so cute" I told them I do not give a fuck what you think of my children. I am trying to raise my children where they see beyond someone's outside appearance and watches their actions. I drill it into my children's head that you have "2 eyes and 2 ears and 1 mouth to look and listen twice as much as you talk and you will learn alot more. I have about 10,000 books at home to read. I read alot of different subjects to my children. With each generation they keep getting worse. I am trying to reverse that with my child. I want them to be better than me. I told my children's mother that if anything is spoiled that means it is bad(like fruit/food) and it needs to be thrown out so we do not spoil the children.

I have no idea what you mean. We are legally married. We get all kinds of benefits for that, like when purchasing a home or buying insurance. You don't have to have children or have a shared income to get those benefits either. We love each other so much that we don't think money is that important and just keep everything completely fair. We buy each other gifts when we feel like it or for holidays. You don't have to share money to love each other, that seems retarded. That is such fucking bullshit. Not wanting to share money is not a "trust issue" and I'm so tired of people who say this shit.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to keep your relationship on equal terms and not have money arguments, and it's not because of trust at all.

you don't get to have it both ways.
you chose to protect yourself as an individual, then enter into a partnership. so you can lecture people on security, and love if you want to.
But you don't get to lecture anyone on trust.

She refused to sign a prenuptial agreement which would imply that she does have money based on the 8000 USD wedding but her would-be husband would have more, hence the prenup. If she indeed would have more money than her husband she should have signed that without blinking twice.

So yes, she is a gold-digger.

I pretty much get told all the time that I'm not *really* happy because my husband and I don't have or want children. Sometimes people are even like "well you must not be able to afford them then" or something, too. Bitch, please. Both my husband and I make around $90-100k a year each, we can easily afford to shit out some kids. But fuck that, neither of us wants them and we are pretty fucking happy without them. I guess we must just be pretending or something lol. How can anyone's life possibly be fulfilling if they don't have kids?!?! amirite

Bullshit reasoning. 'Manhattan Insurance Executive' could be fucking anything, and if you've ever met a woman, especially an Asian one, no money is too much. I guarantee the guy earned more, or else why would she not draft her own? You don't see your own prenup this close to the wedding...

It's the same type of mentality that keeps people vehemently promoting cults, or oppressive religious doctrine, or identity politics etc.
There is shared trauma required to take part in a cult that binds the members (makes it seem valuable to them), and other people finding fulfillment without a similar experience makes them feel that their own sacrifice is devalued--that it didn't mean anything.
Really, they shouldn't give a fuck if they're content.

Pre nups have to be presented well before the marriage, if you show her the contract and make her sign it at the last minute it will be considered to have been signed under duress and it is invalidated

Its not likely that he just surprised her with it because then it wouldn't be legally binding

>Yiru, the Corporate Vice President of New York Life Insurance, inspired guests with her story about growing up poor in China before obtaining a PhD from Princeton

Prenups are not always about protecting money, you can demand money in them as well. For all we know her future husband was demanding an allowance or some of her assets or something, or was trying to write her child from another father out of her will and transfer all her money to him instead. This definitely was not about her stealing money, she is already pretty wealthy and would be down to sign a prenup if it was about protecting her money, especially as someone who works in insurance.

Those are some wild assumptions without even any circumstantial evidence to back it up, its far more likely that it was a standard prenup that meant if they separate she doesn't get half his property

If it were about protecting her she surely would have mentioned it in her publicity shoot since it would have made her look better, and seeing as that's why she had cameras there in the first place that was obviously her goal

Nobody knows, she didn't go into the details about it. But a prenup isn't always about protecting your assets, you can also demand stuff from your partner in them.

People can put stuff like
>we have to fuck once a day
>you aren't allowed to gain more than 5 lbs
>you're not allowed to watch football or play video games
>you're not allowed to eat pork

Pretty much anything that isn't breaking the law, you can put in a prenup and ask someone to sign and legally agree to. Just make sure you have a judge present to show they didn't sign under duress, or video tape it. A prenup is not always just protecting your money, you can put pretty much anything you want in it as long as it's not breaking the law.

>How can anyone's life possibly be fulfilling if they don't have kids?!?! amirite

It's a complexity issue. Everything you do in life adds another layer to your existence. Peel back a layer to the time before...so in your case your marriage. Perceive your life without your husband, without love, without companionship - it's hard isn't it? And because of having him there is a certain level of emotional swing that it has caused you, the good times and bad. There is always a tiny amount of worry that something might happen to him, or he may do something. But that is certainly offset by all the joy and happiness you share together. You can extend the same level of thought all the way back to being a kid or having a NEET solitary life style, eventually there is no one but yourself. That can easily be seen as lonely, depressing, cold...but at the same time it affords one a level of emotional stability and safety. Kids are exactly the same, they add another layer of complexity. The love you have for them is beyond that of your spouse, yet there are times you want to bash their face in because that are so infuriating. They force another level of emotional growth on you, which is both good and bad.

Some people just aren't cut out for kids and that's fine. They are huge time, money, emotion sinks but a good parent will never resent or question if they are doing it for the right reasons. I think it's better for anyone who questions having kids to not until they can spend serious time and effort to resolving why.

But if it were anything like that she would have told the everyone about it because it makes the guy look unreasonable, which is what this is about, making it look like he's bad for wanting a prenuptial agreement and she's good for providing some highly visible charity

There is no reason to believe it was anything beyond the common prenup besides you wanting to be on her side

>Perceive your life without your husband, without love, without companionship - it's hard isn't it?
No, I had a life before I met him, and still have one now. He isn't my life, he is my partner. I don't need to be married or have children to not feel lonely or depressed, that's ridiculous. I got married because I really love my husband and wanted a contract to spend the rest of my life with him, that comes with benefits for us both like making it easier to buy a house, get insurance, etc. And then I signed a prenup to cut out the shitty parts of a marriage contract like having to pay alimony and such.

It's such a weird and ridiculous notion to me that you can't just be a happy individual enjoying your life unless you are married and have children. I was perfectly happy before I met my husband and got married, just as I am perfectly happy being with him now.
