I'm from Northern Ireland. I'm 21 and doing a masters. My whole life, I have tired to find something to like in Northern Ireland. I tried my hardest but I just could not. The pain and utter suffering that people did to each other here has made me hate all parts of the community. How can I be proud of any form of history that we had? It was never worth it. I abandoned all that I had. The smugness, the utter hatred, the vile beliefs, labeling each other just to justify one more killing, another mutilation, another spit on someone's grave and laugh as someone elses life is torn away from them in mindless ignorance.
Growing up here has taught me to trust no one. I have worked with both sides of the communities and the lack of hope is depressing. I've seen kids as young as 10 having suicidal thoughts and refusing to interact with parents. What type of future are we building. Is it even worth it?
Only knowledge, science, technology, law, and these sort of things interest me now. You can only win by not playing the game and I refuse to acknowledge any community. Hope is an impossibility but I can still build my own future.
