France was also the first European country to have leftist multiculturalism and has been a big source of leftist belief systems, so Germany taking Paris could have saved the west.

WW1 was going ahead regardless of British involvement, and up until a few weeks before nobody really knew what side we were going to join (if we joined at all)
WW2 was a check to german aggression once again. The government tried repeatedly, against the wishes of the French to appease Hitler in hopes he would stop (Annexation of Austria and Czecheslovakia).
Poland was the red line, Germany crossed it and a the British prime minister was effectively sacked for letting it get so far with appeasement
