There's a woman I work with that did something like this when she was younger. Because it was a "financial burden" among other things. She made it an open adoption so she can see him from time to time, and she's "easily triggered" by matters of the topic. She has a day that she takes off every year so she can sit home and cry about how much she misses him, and she openly admits it.
