That's always been the case. American government schools' primary goal is to make leftists attack dogs. So guess what?! The majority end up as leftists!
Not as many become attack dogs because they are still lazy teenagers, and when they get out into the real world they learn on their own how much bullshit it is.
Another case, is those who bought into this they are willing to scream at those who disagree with their world view no matter where they are or what they are doing. Needless to say they don't function too well in the real world (can't flip burgers AND call everyone within earshot a racist without annoying the customers), so they hide from the real world in government jobs.
Another category would be the power player. The hardworking student interested in doing well in school to do well in college to get a good job to have a successful life built on hard work. That's their primary focus. So when the leftist sock puppet is screaming about the hurt feelings of an insane man wearing a dress showing his hairy cock and balls to a 5 year old in the ladies room, they obey to get the good grade. They may know it's all bullshit even now, but will keep their head down and comply to get the good grade, and even later in life to get the building permits. Like Trump himself, which is why we will hear about how the NY based developer had to agree with leftists so HE'S NOT A TRUE CONSERVATIVE as that even means after the GOP candidates for the past 28 years.

i know more than a few "young voters" who would sooner vote for trump than shillary (but would probably end up voting for jill stein, instead)--and i live in a dark blue area of the country.
From middle school and onward, they pretty much spend most of the time "teaching" about the "poor Jews", "Evil Nazis", and they force you to read and study about the "struggles" of black people in America.
