That's when California, the largest and most important state, comes into play. We all know that California is heavily socialist, and it is likely that he would win heavily there. At this point, the popular vote would have been equalised. Then it comes down to the superdelegates. Sanders would have to make a very convincing campaign for them to renege on Clinton, but he is predicted to have a larger winning margin over Trump than Hillary would. If he equalises the popular vote, likely the superdelegates will buy into this argument and renege.
It's an extremely long shot but a shot all the same.
