Hitler was the only reason the Germans ever had success in the first place. His general staff was made up of a bunch of weak willed pussies who anted to wait until 1945-1946 to kick off of the war. Hitler was the only one with the foresight to realize that if they waited that long the western allies would have been able to completely rearm and the Germans would have lost their few advantages.
Germany's only hope at reasserting herself as a dominant world power was to rebuild her Empire in Europe itself and knock down her rivals (France and the USSR). If it wasn't for Hitler his generals would have let Germany be crushed by the economic powerhouses in the west.
