I don't really care. I don't smoke but it wouldn't be hard to get them anyway. A fake id is under $100 and there are always older friends you can talk to who can get you things you want. I think it might entice teens to try harder to smoke since there are a lot of against-the-grain types who just want to go around and say "fuck the police" while acting hard by smoking or drinking and giggling with friends about how fucked up they are after ~3 sips of hard cider.
It just seems like the law was passed to see if it could, since there is already so much anti-smoking propaganda and according to certain stats, smoking has gone down (vaping and weed are up, however). This might set a precedent for future laws that slowly encroach on other things. But, that's a slippery slope.

The voting age was originally 21. But liberals got it down to 18, citing "old enough to fight for your country means you're old enough to vote". Ironically, afterwards the federal gov't imposed the 21yo federal drinking age, so apparently you can be old enough to die for your country, but not have a beer.

This sucks for young people but it is a fact with Age politics, no one over that age really cares. I think its good, because in highschool it was easy to get tobacco and it shouln't be. But also it is unfair to people who are 18+, who should be able to use tobacco.
