Because the morality of liberalism is literally just Christian morality, minus any parts about self-discipline or high standards.

Enlightenment is a personal journey because certain truths must be realized. Another cannot give proof to answers to questions about a reality that the individual has not realized. Religion helps guide people to the path of self-discovery
but it is arduous and very few even realize there is a journey to be had. Atheism and liberalism are the ideologies that ask for the lowest amount of personal risk or thought today. Most are just lazy people which is obvious by how they don't struggle with science, religion, or morality, they simply dismiss other ideologies.
