The military breaks them down so that they only do things when they are told to, this leads to people who really can't think for themselves or make decisions on their own. My wife's a corporal in the Marine corps I bring in more than her she barely makes minimum wage and works over 60 hours a week required to work out and every aspect of her life is controlled by the military. The non married marines make less then she does even though she's the same rank.
