In my country, all media (and there's a lot) is owned by a handful of people and during the crisis they completely lifted the 'objectivity' pretenses. You'll probably see it happen with the referendum. Believe it or not, the state TV is the most objective you can get, especially since you know enough to take it with a grain of salt.

Agreed. As long as you recognize the inherent biases of the BBC or NPR, their not-for-profit status actually allows them to do long-term investigative journalism.
The for-profit news media no longer does investigative journalism because of the expense v. 24 hour news cycle.
