What the fuck is happening to this country, STEM majors are being fucking left in the dust, racking up debt, while everyone else is making bank. What jobs can one even get with a STEM major? Research? Internships? Those don't make money. Liberal art majors are way more better off because of their connections they make.

Just kidding, physics major here switching over to Computer Engineering/ Electrical engineering, help me out pol brothers which one makes more bank. Literally picking jobs for monetary reasons and not enjoyment.

I would go EE but if you really wanna make some bank go for genetics. Its going to be huge m8.
>>

I mean that's half of it, you have to want it too senpai.
>>
EE is going down the tubes (although still a high tier major), CE is going nowhere but up. If you have the chops, CE is by far the better choice.
>>
every stem degree is lucrative if you can make industry connections early on. ie be personable and not autistic and you'll succeed.
>>
>>72922495
Genetics? Really? How so?

Literally got no idea what EE is about (besides the obvious name implications) but seriously considering it.

I am perfectly fine working 40hrs a week at a job I hate and not being in debt than working at a job I love and being in debt. I think working at a job I love over the years would just eventually make me learn to hate what i love.

And I'll say it in the future. I witnessed my dad wake up every morning at 4 am and work 12 hours for me, after sleeping for zero hours every night, with a plethora of problems, pain, acid reflux, insomnia, etc. For 18 years.

If I'm ever feeling like a pussy I will remember that my father literally wasted his life away for me, so I could have a future and I will do the same for my family in the future if it comes to it. But work isn't your whole life imo.
>>
>>72923022
that's why it's master race

You only need one of those two for engineering
>>
>>72922711
CE is software, hardware, circuits, math, etc. It's everything. You'll need to be able to wrap your head around several programming languages, hardware design from the bit level to microprocessor and embedded system design, on top of graduate level math (but if you've done physics for a year or two, that shouldn't be an issue). It's very difficult and time consuming. I wouldn't call it the most difficult major out there, but be prepared to spend dozens of hours a week studying material and also applying things to labs and projects outside of class.

I have a BSE in CE btw
>>
>>72922318
You don't have to go into a STEM job with a STEM major. When I was job searching after getting my MechEgr Bachelors I got so many companies hitting me up with Finance and Accounting opportunities. I also got several opportunities for just regular jobs that didn't pay well but were better than minimum wage.

I eventually got a STEM job, but it took a few months and a lot of searching and honing skills in the mean time.

Maybe not the best major for me I guess. And holyshit BSE? Nice.

That's an incredibly broad and overall inaccurate statement. STEM graduates are still rare overall, with certain concentrations (mainly engineering obviously) being more in demand than ever.

There is a world of difference between a math major, IT guy, and an engineer.

There's not much chemistry at the undergraduate level that would ever require calc 3. You need linear algebra and mild integral/derivative calculus for quantum chemistry and some parts of thermodynamics, chemistry at that level is mostly very simple math. It's just complicated to interpret the problems and turn them into math.

Like what? There's nothing heavy than basic calculus and linear in undergraduate level chemistry. Unless you're a physical chemist you don't really use a lot of math even at the graduate level, and even then it's often more programming and computer stuff these days. It's really more about understanding the principle of chemistry.

I like chem because it's easier than physics or biology, but a lot of people don't 'get' it and seem to be confused by it.

The other dude's right though chem is not too employable these days unless you're boss as fuck at it. The good thing is it's not that hard to get boss as fuck at it and not many people put in the work to do it, so you can.

Ultimately though a bio degree is plan for the future in STEM fields. Molecular biology is probably going to bring you the closest to the forefront of science these days. The problem is you have to be down with memorizing ridiculous amounts of information.
